hello!
I want to go from Basildon to Central London.
I will drive until some tube station and then continue with the tube
but which tube station should I go for?
which is the best combination of free parking with good availability and as close to central london as possible?
thanks!

AIUI there are no TfL free car parks anymore (unless you have a blue badge) and trying to park on the road means you're competing with all the commutors
What time of day (peak rate or not, cost, chance of parking etc)
Where in central London since that affects which line, or do you need to travel all about the place
Considering Basildon is only about 3 stops outside the District line is the cost saving worth the time & effort?0 -
No tube station car parks are free and most roads nearby have restrictions in the middle of the say i.e 10-11am, 2-3pm, so you can't park all day.
From Basildon the easiest tube station to get to is Newbury Park on the Central line, it's straight down the A127.
The car park is pay & display, £5.20 Mon-Fri all day, £2.00 Sat. £1.50 Sun. There are two car parks so spaces are always available.Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0 -
isn't there a place to park near Newbury Park ? for free ?
I can walk 5 min if needed
or near of the rest tube stations across the A12, or even the A13 would be fine0 -

isn't there a map that will highlight streets without parking restrictions?
for example, in http://en.parkopedia.co.uk/parking/newbury_park/
how do I highlight the free parking streets?0 -

That depends on what time you're going to London and now long you're going to be.
There's a Sainsbury's with a free car park just behind the station, it's open from 7am to 10pm Mon-Sat, 11am-5pm Sunday. But they do lock it when the store closes and it's not a very nice walk, there's no foot path along the road, although there in a circuitous route through a housing estate.
London Borough of Redbridge have street parking pretty much sewn up near stations, like I said, they have restrictions in the middle of the day to stop people parking all day.Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0 -

It would be a very usual Sainsburys these days if it does not have a 3 hour limit with camera controlled timing.
But having said that went and had a look of street view and there are no signs saying any limit.I started with nothing and I am proud to say I still have most of it left.0 -
The closest station to central London with free on-street parking is Rotherhithe. Park on Rotherhithe Street about 10 mins walk to the station, and there is plentiful parking at any time of day. There are also two bus routes to central London (London Bridge 10 mins, Waterloo 20 mins).0

So you are saying they are to travel into London along the notorious A13, cross the river using a nortoriously busy riuver crossing just for on street parking? Madness.
The best option to offer and depending on where they want to get to in central London is just to take the C2C from Basildon themselves and change onto the Jubilee at West Hame which will take them straight to central London."If you no longer go for a gap, you are no longer a racing driver" - Ayrton Senna0 -

I agree.
Going anywhere near the A3 would be madness.0
