I'm still debating if i have room in my bedroom to out a tree, i might suggest a tree for the house. I do have fairy lights up but i have them all year round :rotfl:

My xmas last year in the bedsit i was in was pretty miserable so i want to make this year a better one :D not yet though..

Speaking of putting it up earlier my mum has told me the one at home is going up in november as every weekend in december is already taken up with various plans :p

I never took the Xmas lights round the door down last year as we were due a big birthday in Feb, that they were great for, and they are now looking great again as the nights start to get earlier and earlier, and I can put them on at tea time, I think they will just be winter lights.
However the tree will go up on the last Sat before Xmas, as we always have a real one.

We have a real tree too, and I hate putting it out. Ours is still looking good by the time its twelfth night, and I'm not sure when we normally get a tree. Quite late I suppose, but it would last longer every year. But we haven't had heating for a while. This year we have heating again, so I suppose we might find it lasts less well. : (

Until last week I didn't know Halloween decorations were even a 'thing'!
  • I think there will be lots of "fairy" lights up at the moment, it's Diwali :)

They have Christmas decorations up at the airport. It irritates me, shameless consumerism! There should be a rule prohibiting decorations before December.

I think the thing that annoys me is that so much else that could be celebrated between now and then is overlooked. 'Christmas is lovely, so full of hope and promise, but other important things deserve to be enjoyed or thought about too.

I work in a hospice unit and sometimes we help do an early Christmas celebration for people who know they won't live until Christmas. I know of families who have done the same at home for a similar reason. There is a possibility that it might be something like that, and not necessarily someone who likes their tree up for 3 months.

I was just about to put this. I know a lot of families, my own being one, that have done this. We once did xmas in october as we didn't think a family member would be around.

I too wondered if it was because someone in that family was terminally ill or possibly someone who is about to work abroad for several months and won't be back for Christmas, eg someone in the armed services.

Was it definitely a Christmas tree- I had a customer telling me it was Dwalli very very soon last night ?
