Will Change of Broadband Provider - Improve Speed and Reliablity?

>>>the only difference will be if you change provider then the line from exchange to cabinet will change >>
Do they dig up the road ?? Change the cable or is the box marked up as TT cable PN cable BT cable ??
It's not uncommon that an Openreach engineer will change which cable is used from the nearby PCP cabinet to the exchange. This is a simple procedure if there are spare pairs available, as they just need to re-jumper the cable.
I have had a fault resolved this way where my connection was about 4 Mbps and dropping frequently and went back to the 11 Mbps I had before.0 -
If you are bt wholesale you are up the creek lol
Only hope is use BT. They have a full contract with openreach and sort problems faster than other providers. Many other providers have half baked/restrictive contracts with openreach for faults.
you ideally want to get away from BT wholesale....it suxs lol0 -

I'm sorry but that is complete and utter nonsense.
Openreach provides the same level of service to BT Retail as it does with TalkTalk and Sky and other providers.
Openreach exist to provide equivalence of access to it's copper network to all providers. BT does not get preferential treatment.0 -

BT does not get preferential treatment, however there are different contracts and BT has one with all the bells and whistles.
Some of the other broadband providers have cheaper/substandard contracts with openreach.0 -

not true at all, BT get no preferential treatment have no different contracts they get the same service all the other 600+ providers do. infact openreach engineers are told all of this as part of their training.
im sure in this competative industry the others would be on any favourtism rather quickly too.0 -

I'm quite curious to know where you learnt this.
What "bells and whistles" do BT allegedly have that no one else does?
What "cheaper/substandard contracts" do other providers have compared to BT?0 -

Openreach have different levels of maintenance contracts (google it)
on a BT wholesale exchange many broadband providers wait for BT to call out openreach. Usually there are more BT customers anyway and it saves other broadband provider a few quid.(anytime we have had a broadband issue virgin drag there heels and BT actually end up fixing the problem/ call out openreach)
BT will have the highest level openreach contract Some smaller broadband providers will have lower level contracts.(if they pay for the same level contract they will get the same level of service, whether they utilize that service in the same way as BT is another matter)
Just the same as business Broadband customer often get a better service/maintenance service.0 -

I believe you are referring to the Openreach service maintenance levels which are options on a per-line basis. This is available to all fixed line providers who use Openreach for fixed lines.
I don't know why you think BT have the highest care level for their residential products. Even for their business customers this is usually an added extra to get the highest level of enhanced care.0 -
I was in the same situation as the OP. I live in a very rural location, about 8km line length back to a BT ADSL only exchange.
I was using Sky as my ISP as had TV with them & got the estimated 1.5mbps download during the day but come evening/peak times my download speeds were decreasing month by month it seemed until it became unuseable, 0.3mbps at peak time.
Switched to BT who obviously have management of their DSLAMS & capacity their limited exchange can provide and have had a stable 2.3mbps 24/7 & have never looked back.
I was told countless times by people on the web who claimed to know better that one service you recieve is just going to be the same to another as it's "just the same two copper wires" but they were proven wrong.0
