Hi,
Don't know if anyone can help. Booked Florida for 2009. Just wondering if anyone can beat the price Virgin are giving me for ticket for Disney. Looking for 14 day ultimate ticket. Best price I can get is Adult 182 pound and Child 157. Looking for two adults and two children tickets.

I sell holidays over the phone.
If you had called me I would ask you to be a lot more precise.
If you don't know where you want to go I doubt if anyone does.
I'm not sure if date is a half term week?
I will quite often ask for a budget, and quite often I get the reply,
"as cheap as possible" or "I have no budget"
Yet as soon as I quote a price, suddenly my client reveals how much they are prepared to spend
good luck

Thanks guys for the heads up, just to answer a couple of questions
1. it is the school hols
2. I have just recieved £1200 from... lets say i got second prize in a beauty contest so we have decided to have a week in the sun without the kids. so I suppose that is our budget.
3. we just want to get some sun on our faces and some sand in our knickers but as its half term and we will have disposed of our children we would like somewhere where there will not be too many of them around.0 -
Eyeballpaul I couldn't agree with you more! There is nothing more annoying than a customer who comes on and refuses to give you a budget, it is like trying to get blood out of a stone! You are trying to help them by finding out their price range so that you can find them a holiday within it but they won't tell you. They sidestep the question with comments like 'you know, something quite cheap' or 'anything reasonable' which is no use whatsoever because you don't know what is reasonable to them and you want to get them the best flight times / accommodation for their budget. Then, as you say, when you give them a price after spending valuable time searching for them, they say 'Oh no, I only wanted to spend £300', thus revealing their budget!
Another good one is 'I've been offered this holiday for £499 elsewhere, can you beat it?"
"No sorry, I am afraid I can't get anywhere near that price, if I were you I would call the other company back and get that booked before it sells out!"
"Oh... right.... well what's your best price then?"
NOWHERE NEAR THE INVENTED PRICE YOU GAVE ME! IF YOU HAD GIVEN ME A TRUTHFUL PRICE I MIGHT HAVE BEEN ABLE TO BEAT IT.
OR
"We've been quoted £2000 for this holiday and wondered if you could beat it."
"OK, as that exactly £2000?"
"Errr... I'm not sure, I don't have the paperwork in front of me. Oh, here we go, yes it was £2987."
or
"We've been quoted £200 for a flight, can you beat that price? We need four seats"
"No sorry, all the flights to your destination on that day are £300, you really should book the £200 one"
"Hmmm, it's just that there is only one seat on the £200 flight."
Sorry I know this isn't what the forum is for but just needed to let off some steam there.
Customers - tell your travel consultant how much you have been quoted and BE HONEST and they will do their best to beat the quote you have. If you invent a price, it may be physically impossible to get your holiday any lower and the agent will have to turn you away, when they might be able to beat the genuine quote you have. Always specify a budget too so that they can work hard to find you something in your budget, or offer you alternatives if your budget is not feasible for the holiday you have in mind.0 -

Nice reply!
After quoting a price, client sometimes ask can I make it lower.
I always reply no, and advise that I am allowed to make it higher!thanks to all posters
