Eolys fluid £30+ a litre. :eek:0 -
You have a different definition of "older" to me... That's modern car stuff, that is.
A 2004 307 I had needed it, AFAIK engines from around 2010/11 don't need it. I know the current diesel Focus certainly doesn't need it.
I try to avoid used diesels from that era onwards as much as possible.0 -

Yeah but it's French, so they give it a fancy name and charge about the same as cheap perfume.0 -

Sounds expensive, but guess in a car must last a long time?
Been told a few times AdBlue is pig p1ss.
Keep meaning to pee in the tank and see what happens.
No idea why from a pig, have to have a google0 -

Adblu is a water-based urea solution (hence the "pig pee" comments).
Eolys is an oil-based cerium (III) oxide solution.0 -

Depends on driving style/type and weirdly whether you fill your tank fully (this may be a rumour I heard at the time).
Supposedly it uses it every 500 kilometres when it cleans the DPF.
Memory is a bit rusty on it now, tried my best to forget that bloody car.0 -
Same job. Completely different stuff.

Eolys is an oil-based cerium (III) oxide solution.
Sounds a bit more advancedOddballJamie wrote: »Depends on driving style/type and weirdly whether you fill your tank fully (this may be a rumour I heard at the time).

Pretty much every time you stop and idle you can hear the adblue going, gets through a fair bit of it.
Sounds like a cruder method as it's going into exhaust rather than a little filter I guess, hence using so much more.0 -

Anybody that thinks brake fluid is the most expensive fluid on the car to buy, is obviously deluded. Excluding my time, my diy costs for a brake fluid change are actually less than £3. In addition, many local council run waste recycling centres, including mine, accept it for disposal with no fee.
That is most certainly not the case for businesses though. If a business drops off any waste at a free recycling site meant for domestic use they are breaking the law. As much as taking a carrier bag with a tea bag in it home and placing it in your household waste bins is technically breaking the law. Any garage wanting to be compliant has to pay to dispose of their waste and hazardous waste (yes break fluid) is expensive to get rid of.SkippyDO skip hire price compasion0 -
A very interesting thread which I found rather scary and unsettling, particularly the earlier posts. Reminded me a little of a thread in the 'in my home' section a few weeks ago where someone was asking how to lift up and remove the carpet in their lounge!!!!!
Amazingly it seems people like this really DO exist.........frightening isn't it.0
