Am I being too precious about this?

I had a furious response from the buyer, complete with neg, I gave her a total refund as I could not bear to even try and reason with someone who had so exaggerated the condition of what I sent. I just hope she didn't bin the lovely jacket as it had been in the same postcode as a dogfood bag. I have given up selling now, people are so picky they expect private sellers to work the same as big companies, same day posting etc.
I have received all sorts of packaging and in general applaud the inventiveness of the seller, using what is available. As long as the layer surrounding the item is clean, what is the problem?
Sorry, but you posted an item of clothing in a DOG BISCUIT BAG?!
And you were shocked to get a bad response and a negative? Seriously?
Fine to be 'inventive,' but to use old food wrappings? (That the food has touched,) No. Just no. And a DOG food wrapper? Ewwwww.
I would have been irked too, if it had been me. There is nothing 'precious' about being irked at an item of clothing being wrapped in a dog food bag or something that has had food touching it.
If it's a fragile item, use bubble wrap!(•_•)

No, Jaylee, I posted it in layers of tissue, then wrapped in a new, clean plastic bag.
The dog biscuit bag - just biscuit, not meat or anything smelly, was just an extra cover round the package, making it tougher & safer for her jacket.
It didn't touch the jacket.
Yes, seriously, I was shocked and puzzled - it was just a plastic bag! What does it matter if it says Bonio or Debenhams on it? It was just a bag!Deal with things as they are, not as they should be.0 -
A shopping bag from a pet shop? or the wrapper for dog biscuits that had had the biscuits against it?
I'd find using any wrapper that had had food directly against it very odd.0 -

I can't see what her problem was. You had it all packaged up before it even went in the dog biscuit bag, so it wouldn't have even touched the jacket! Some people are just way too picky.
I doubt I would have refunded it. I would have been explaining to her that I'd done it for her benefit and that if she couldn't see that, then there's something up! :cool:0 -
I suppose as I always save the strong bags to use when posting things and have had complimentary comments on the "well packaged parcel" in the past I was surprised. And quite a few quid out of pocket.
I still don't get it, I'm not worried what the OUTER bag is made from or what it has been round in a former life, I'm only worried about the INNER layer if there is one. But then I'm a very relaxed person, as long as the item I wanted arrives and is as expected, I'm happy.Deal with things as they are, not as they should be.0 -

major over-reaction here. May one ask why, exactly? The questions that get the best answers are the questions that give most detail....0 -

Bit if it's over another bag then surely it would be ok? It's only biscuit, any scent left on the bag shouldn't transfer through the other bag.
I don't know about other people, but I always wash any clothing items received off eBay or other sites before I wear them anyhow.0 -

I wouldn't want to open a package that stinks of dog biscuits. Doesn't matter if it transfers to the contents or not.
People know how troublesome ebay buyers can be these days, to complicate a relatively simple transaction by wrapping an item of clothing in a dog biscuit bag is just weird and bizarre.0 -

I guess solarjunkie just thought she was doing good by making the package more secure.
I'd be the first to complain if my item was damaged/marked/stank etc, but if no harm was done to the item then it personally wouldn't bother me. If it had just been wrapped in the dog biscuit bag then that might have been a different situation I agree, but as it is it wouldn't bother me personally.0
