    Hi
I am a 74 year old male who has become severley disabled through major surgery for firstly lung cancer and then a few months later jaw cancer.
I am looking for advice and help about a recent purchase that I made to help me get around better.
I bought a brand new electric mobility scooter on eBay.I was most surprised by the very fast delivery (3 days) as I understood it was being shipped from Queensland Australia
I went out to try the scooter but it was really unstable. I found that the front wheel had no traction and the scooter wouldn't go up the slightest incline. On the way back I had to have a push by passer by so that I could make it home.
I seems like there is too much weight on the rear wheels is causing he lack of traction of the front wheel, in actual fact it is positively dangerous due to the instability issue.
Its not my weight to blame as I am only 11 stone 9 lb. At first glance the scooter does look the part but it certainly does not live up to its promise and has left me bitterly disappointed.

I contacted the seller about it and this is his reply.

Thanks for your message. Great to hear that you have the scooter assembled and working.

Ok I completely understand your point and can see how this would be an issue on inclines.
One thing to keep in mind however is that we actually only advertise this scooter for flat,
surfaced areas - not inclines or slopes however.

That being said, there are a couple easy ways to rectify this.
    1. Quickest and easiest way to gain traction is to lean forwards.
    2. Let some air pressure out of your tire, this will give you more surface area to the ground and
    increase your traction.

    3. If you can't lean forward, try putting some weights or something heavy in the front basket -
    this will help.

    Hope this all makes sense.
Please let us know if you have any other questions.
    Thanks

    To which I then replied,
    Hi
Thanks for your reply, and I have earnestly tried the suggestions that you have made.
However I have come to the conclusion that this is totally unacceptable as it is not fit for
purpose and positively dangerous. For you to suggest that it is not made for use on slopes is totally unbelievable as it is advertised as a mobility scooter.
I find that I have no alternative other than to return the scooter for a full refund.

    The seller then replied,

Hi (text removed by MSE Forum Team),
Sorry to hear that you feel this way.
Unfortunately however we will stand firm on this point.
We will not be offering you a return for a perfectly working and as advertised product.
    Such a request is unfeasible.
Thank you for your time and goodbye.

    Hi,
thanks for your interest. I confirm that I am in the UK and did buy from eBay UK
I wasn't all that sure how or where to post my problem.
Do you think that it should be moved to a more prominent position.

If you feel the item has been mis sold then you can open a case for SNAD (significantly not as described) on eBay. You will need to return the item if you win the case, but it is probably worth appealing to eBay about the costs as they might be able to provide a label or at least come to a compromise about the costs.
