Three quiche cases chilling prior to be blind-baked, first load of yoghurt straining, superking turned around and J installed, double spring-cleaned including paintwork washed down. All I've got left to do is remake the bed and push all the furniture back into position.

Speaking of having a gibble box in each room, the only room you don't need one for is the kitchen. That's what the oven's for. All of my aunts used to shove their kitchen gibble in it when unexpected visitors arrived, and one of them actually buried all their serving dishes with burnt on crud rather than wash them up.
    Better is good enough.

Healing vibes for your painful paws Lamewolf, and acquiring-appreciation-vibes heading Mr LW's way. The pud can wait until you feel moved to make it, I would have thought - which may take some time.
    Thanks. :A
I've been very virtuous this morning - been to @ld! and got some cupboard supplies, plus some dried fruit for the dreaded puds - I don't just make one, I do four, which last us through the cold months, as we believe "Xmas pud isn't just for Xmas":D I also got a bottle of "cooking" brandy and the requisite dark ale (for the puds) - Mr LW has been informed he can have the remainder of the bottle after I've done the puds.:D It's one of his favourites - H0bgoblin.:o

    I've also made:
    • Veggie toad-in-the-hole (which has now been consumed)
    • Nut loaf to slice and freeze
    • Carrot'n'orange cake
    • Blackberry'n'apple crumble
I've also been very brave and tried out the new GAS oven. Everything seems to have turned out ok.:o

Mr LW is only in the office two days next week, so he's getting off light with the ironing today; so I've told him just for a special treat, he can give the loo a good scrub.:rotfl:

Had a bit of a dippy morning this morning. Ds1 had a party at 11, spotted the clock in the kitchen, rushed around to get out of the house. Turned up and the car park was virtually empty. It dawned on me straight away what I had done! Double checked my phone and yes it was 10am! I hadn't changed the kitchen clock! So I had an hour to kill, went to toys rus to do job from yesterday and yes it doesn't open until 11 on a Sunday!! Grrrrr!
Anyway, just had lunch and a cuppa and going to crack on.

    Update

    Rub down filled cracks
    Paint rest of kitchen
Wash down patio doors on the outside
    Wash some windows
    Finish off the railings
Wipe down paintwork and sockets in all finished rooms!

Going to do the railings now and then wash the patio doors so I won't need to go back outside again!!

    meh

decided to roast the butternut squash for my lunch - alongside the courgette, peppers and a red onion (I love roast onion) - never had butternut squash before. Thoroughly disappointed. Good job I had other roast veggies to eat.

I remember MANY years ago some woman advising (may have been on the radio - or a magazine, I know not) that burnt on crud magically disappeared from pans if left overnight inverted on the lawn. She attributed this phenomena to 'fairies' or 'dew' (!!) (again, the details are hazy).

Someone contacted the (whatever) and pointed out that what was ACTUALLY scouring her pans was slugs...:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Bunny hutch cleaned and restocked. Sack found for trip to timberyard for cheaper sawdust (and hopefully more of it).
    Line dried bedding brought in.

Caster sugar checked - sugar - who knew?

I rather suspect that the weevils travel in with the flour.:mad:
I think freezing is the way to go. TY.

Have also (now) flung the chopped dates. They smelled really 'odd'.

I LOVE roasted buttenut squash - what did you do to it? It's creamy and sweet and filling and the roasted bits round the edge are a bit crispy, and it tastes AMAzing with feta or goat's cheese, or with gravy as part of a roast... I buy it already chopped and frozen now, from Tsco or Snsbrys - I worked out that once I cut off the skin and deseed, it's the same £ per kilo, and obviously much quicker!

I have put up TWO (yes TWO) ikea bedside tables today, on my own, with help from 3 small people. I deserve my wine tonight! Then cleared and hoovered bedroom, sorted through the baskets under the bed (finally threw out the daily contact lenses with 2010 use by date ) and done a load of washing.

DH is watching films with the littlies, so now I am going to try and adapt some old curtains to go with our new bedroom...

    Cricket done.

Going to get the washing in and peel pots for dinner and then help DS1 with his tax return which I don't fancy but I've told him they have to be done by end of October to make him do it.

Ta for the tip. Who cares as long as the crud goes?

I've just chucked a pint of milk dated 22.9.14 down the drain even though it smelt just fine.

Three cheese and onion quiches baked to perfection. The ex-cheesy bic dough makes fabulous pastry!

1.5pts of three days out of date milk in the slow-cooker with the tailend of the Y30 Valley yog, so more fridge gibble used up.

I'm going to lug the monster dy$on through the house sucking it up as I go. I hate doing it, but there are sycamore keys absolutely everywhere which kind of gives the game away.

    I used this recipe

I normally enjoy roasted veg so I was surprised...

Christmas cake now (slowly) baking in oven.

I don't like butternut squash at all but quite like acorn squash.

Roast done, need to get a child empty DW and to clean up in the kitchen.

Woody has just brought in a rather large dead rat, DS1 took it away from him and DS3 gave him a chuck of lamb as a reward.
