Second trip to Iceland to do a £10shop to get £5 Christmas bonus, bought more coke as still on offer bogof and a 2 packs part baked bagettes to put up for Christmas. So second £10 spend and one to go.
I did notice a few more things that I can get out of Christmas budget but will go back for them as even if I spent £20 it would only count as one shop towards the bonus, so I need another one at £10.
I thin this is a winner for me as I am using Christmas fund to shop but intend the £5 bonus to go on veg to stock up for after Christmas.Slimming World at target0 -
I'm still buying my semi-skimmed in A*di. Maybe my maths is out but I worked it out as
If you buy 4 pints that equals 2.27 litres so at £1.00 that's around 44 pence a litre.
In A*di I am buying 2 litre packs for 78 pence so 39 pence a litre.
As I buy two packs every week I reckon I'm saving 20 pence a week or one free a month.
Please tell me if I've worked it out wrong

A NSD here today, thanks to the old stylers
Was going to go and buy dinner from Tesco but asked on here about using up some onions and potatoes.
Got some great advice and made this
Potato and Bacon bake:
Caramelise 2 sliced onions then add some bacon (I used 6 slices) and 3 cloves of garlic plus any herbs you like.
Fry that for a few mins (not so long that the bacon cooks though) and add about 300 mls of stock and 1 large tbsp. of crème fraiche.
Meanwhile, slice as many potatoes as you need (I used about 5 large potatoes), the slices should be 2-3cms thick. Parboil for 3-4 mins.
When the potatoes are done, drain and add the bacon mix to them.
Put everything in a baking dish and grate loads of cheese on top and chuck it into the oven for 30mins at 180, then 10mins at 200.0 -
It could have been a NSD but I had to buy a drink and cake, having gone out with a young acquaintance of mine, could not allow her to pay as she is really not very well off. £8.80 in Marks!!! Comes out of entertaining budget though, so the GC is still safe. Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).0

After work conference called with Mr T;s and got lots of YS stewing steak, and also got the 3 for £10 deduction, so one pack was free. Already in oven. Should do thursday and fri tea. ALso got a YS roasting chicken for £3, also roasting and men will no doubt have some for tea tonight and rest tomorrow lunch.
Also got milk 6 x £1. Some cooked ham, block of half price cheese for mens lunches. Total was £43 so I have updated signature. I am beginning to realise that with all the extras to feed my £200 target will be difficult. Last weekend I did a roast and needed 1.6 kilos of potatoes for 1 meal! Expensive.
Hope everyone else having a good day.0 -

Am I right in thinking somewhere in this section is a how to use up certain ingredients thread? If so can someone point me to it.
Many thanks. Bob
I sometimes use LOVEFOODHATEWASTE but more often ALLRECIPES or just go onto google and ask 'what can i make with........' and click enter.
You can waste pass lots of hours doing this  no, seriously it does help give you some ideas.
You could, of course, always ask on here as I am sure you won't be surprised that there are lots of good imaginative cooks on here who are used to making the most of left-overs.
I had a small spend in Mr T today, mainly YS veggies and stilton cheese.
Hope you all have a thrifty Thursday
