  • Miss try to save, I don't count it as part of my spend. It's a little bonus as far as I'm concerned, as it is not actual money from my account. HTh

Nsd today. Was taken out to dinner by bf's mum, to say thanks for being with him!!! Lunch was a picnic, from bits I had in. Ys rolls, ys sausage rolls and fruit.

Tomorrow is another day out. We're going to London to see the poppies. Another picnic, have rolls left but not saus rolls. Loads of other bits though. No time to shop as prob late back.

November cash is now withdrawn ready for groceries

Do you do this every month? Do you find it helps to have the cash instead of using a debit card?
I am thinking about withdrawing cash for everything I need during the month (only the food, elec and gas) so that I wont have to touch my bank account until the next month.
I think this would work out better for me than using a debit card, as it'll seem more 'real'.

    What does everyone else do?

Hiya everyone and a massive welcome to all the new peoples :hello:

Thanks Zippy for running the thread, Coxy for organising the budgets and Rosieben for the recipe threads.

Please put us down for £200 again for the month to cover all food, packups, cleaning and toiletries for DH and myself.

Really struggled on this for October and running low on lots of stuff but determined to give it another go :)

I don't have a dishwasher but I remember reading on one of the threads that half a tablet works just as well as a whole one. Might be worth a try eh :money:

I use my c/card because I get cashback and am on % interest and saving the pennies - but then I am a renowned miser :rotfl:

My month runs monthly so I am still on previous fred until Friday. Good luck everyone and I'll be back later

  • Wow, 6 pages already!! I am in for November please with a £200 target again. Hoping to buy in some bits ready for Xmas in that. Already started using the money even though my month doesn't start until Sat, mainly to take advantage of the £5 off voucher which expires today.

Feels good to get ahead and have my money sorted before the first. I have now done that for several months and it means I feel in control and organised - even though I'm actually not!!!!

Haven't had time to read back but will do so later.

Hope you are all OK and thanks to everyone involved in keeping this thread going - it has made such a difference. x

Saving in Scotland. Your £60 is a most impressive target. Good luck.

I never dare use cash as I can then convince myself it was not a spend etc, I tend to fritter. My debit card, lists every single spend and brutally lets me know my impulse buys and their total.Oops.
I do fantasy Te**o shops on line and then take things out that are not really on my list.I am not that successful, but try to take the longer view that every good month, or close to target month is still better than my previous £600-700 spend a month. I should explain that I live a hours drive from a supermarket, so used to go wild when I got there. Habit was created and is difficult to unhabit!
    Good luck

    Hello,

I am still finishing October as my new month starts on 1st November, but this month I would like to go for £270, of which £70 will be bulk purchases. It does not include booze, which the men of the family buy themselves, nor outings etc, which come from the entertainment budget.

Another budget that I need to work out is for the trip to Italy, 6th to 11th November. It will have to take into account flowers and pastries as gifts to my aunties who will host and feed us, so I really don't begrudge spending this money at all. Will have to sit down and work it out, and treats too, can't do without at least one cocktail, one gelato (in the best ice cream shop in the world!) and one pizza!

See you on Saturday for the start of this challenge.
Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).

    Good morning all,

  • The price of meat doesn't half depress me :/ I was hoping a butcher in the city centre might have some better deals but they only work out better on small joints for roasting and even then that's only due to the better quality.

If I wasn't trying to following Slimming World again it would be much easier as I wouldn't be accounting for far leaner meats or particular sausages etc but that's a choice I've made to shift this baby weight!

Anyone know anywhere online with reasonable prices? I could stock up on enough meat for a while if it's worth it

Off to Aldee this morning with my voucher and what feels like quite a long list as we have run out of loo roll, dog food, milk and coffee.

I am aiming for a very low spend this month, using up the freezer and cupboards. This may change as I will hopefully start FT work this month which involves quite a bit of time away so I will need to get organised and fill the freezer with HM ready meals and easy options. I haven't got the job yet so I am trying not to do anything too early in case I jinx it.:o

    Meal Plan for this week:

Th - Sausages, potato bake, carrots and peas
F - Pork burgers, salad and spicy wedges and spooky hot dogs
    S- Enchiladas
Su - Pork medallions, mash and carrots and green beans
    M- Veggie Chilli and wedges
    T - Chicken Fried Rice
W - Mince pie/Chicken and leek pie (freezer) chips and peas
Th - Away overnight for potential work meeting
F - Tomato and mozzarella risotto
    Save £10,500 - £2673.77 - 25.5%
    Pay off £7000 - £1743 - 19.4%
    Make £2021 extra income - £99.75
