OH dear. I didn't know. Can I fix this mistake or is it too late?0 -

I'm not clear in what you mean….you saidYesterday PayPal put a hold on some money because I asked ebay to close a case that a buyer had forgotten to close (replacement was sent).
Why were the funds only held yesterday?
Are you sure they weren't 'held' yesterday but reversed and refunded to the buyer?0 -

It says something like 'placed on temporary hold'
I'm new to this so I thought an open case is bad. I had three open so tried to get ebay to close the one where replacement was sent at end of September. Customer hasnt said anything since so he must have received it. It's 3.90 so not end if world but will have to say sorry to my dad. Oh well. Learnt my lesson!0 -
If your Dad is a TRS, he should be able to get through to the decent call centre in Ireland, Top Customer Care. Use the eBay Contact Us section and work your way through until you get a phone number and a code. That's what I do any time we have a problem with a buyer, and so far we have a grand total of 3 defects - 2 of which were in all honesty completely our fault.
As for the idiots, there's a few things you can do to deal with them. We have two resolutions to eBay buyer problems - open a case and return it for a full refund, or accept a repair. Nothing else is offered, we don't generally have the option of replacements and partial refunds are almost inevitably a scam. Most of the people who just want money off are unwilling to open a case, and people who genuinely have a problem are often happier with a repair than a refund.
Many people who will bravely send you the most hideous, rude, demanding messages can be incredibly polite once you get them on the phone. I have no idea why - some people seem to have difficulty communicating in the written word, so they come across as rude when they're not trying to be. Other people just can't bring themselves to be so unpleasant over the phone. Invite people who have a problem to get on the phone and call your shop - or just look up their sales record to get their phone number and phone them. Always send an eBay message with the same content as the phone number so eBay have a record of what's been said.
With weird feedback, I would always contact the customer first off, and eBay second. If neither will change the feedback, you can always leave a reply underneath it - follow the usual rules for feedback, but maybe explain that the thing he bought was a gas key and therefore nothing to do with any electricals - and of course, invite him to call you. It looks better to any customers browsing your feedback if they see a reasonable, polite response.
Of course it also helps to have a nice, quiet peaceful place you can go to where you can yell your heart out about the aggravating idiots you have to deal with on eBay Like the person who tried to buy something the day before we went away for Christmas, and screamed down the phone at me that I'd ruined her holiday because there was no way we could get it delivered the next day - on a bulky item that didn't include or offer delivery, no less! Or the guy who sent me multiple messages detailing all of the companies who sold a particular product cheaper than I did, who turned out to be one of the competition Oh yes, or the person a few years back who bought an expensive item using someone else's PayPal account that she'd found on a laptop left behind when she moved in! I could go on, but I'm sure you've got the gist of it - the internet is full of crazy people, scammers, trolls, your competition, and people who like to complain - if you're lucky, some of them give you money.:coffee:Coffee +3 Dexterity +3 Willpower -1 Ability to Sleep
Playing too many computer games may be bad for your attention span but it Critical Hit!0 -
I closed my ebay account recently. Don't need the pressure of dealing with stupid unreasonable buyers and ebays diabolical customer service and general ineptness.0

I hate ebay for the amount of idiots involved, but put up with it because in the end its my income, and is worth (sometimes) the hassle. To be honest there's no more idiots on there then there is that order from my mail order only business.
They just seem to come all in one go though. Today was waking up to a rant that I had only sent someone 4 of an item, and it should be 6. That he had checked his floor so nothing had fallen out, and there were no holes in the packet. Luckily I remember double checking his item yesterday before I sent it out so knew I had packed the right amount, but I couldn't call him a liar. So offered to send him 2 more out. Hour later whoops he had found one on the floor, and he had cut a hole in the packet by accident. Luckily he was polite and apologized.
This is followed by the person who moaned I hadn't sent him a parcel, except he hadn't paid for it. In the end it got sorted, but it turned out not to be the item he wanted, despite me telling him that several times. Sigh.Remember never judge someone that makes a mistake, because in six months time it may be you that makes the next mistake.0 -
Our building containing our ebay stocks was burnt down a couple of weeks ago and we lost everything, I did all the right things informed ebay, messaged all the buyers, refunded all items removed from sale.
Still getting messages demanding ( full on quoting Sales of good act will report you to ebay blah blah) replacements, asking when they can come pick a 99p item up they desperately need etc
It never ends with ebay apparently telling customers we have no stock it has burnt to a crisp means we are just hiding the good stuff ! morons!0 -

I had some personal bereavements a few years ago and had to abruptly stop a couple of times. I sent mass emails and sorted things out as quick as I could. The majority were ok, some were exceptionally nice and the odd ones were *expletives deleted!*.
I had one who sticks out as being thoroughly unpleasant, I just sent a message back saying I couldn't care less I've got more important things to deal with and he actually apologised.
I think very often some buyers (and sellers to some extent) forget they are dealing with people and not machines. Especially one man band sellers have 'stuff' to deal with that can't be put aside or passed on to someone else.
One of the worst things is how much the one bad customer can get under your skin. I get around 2000 lovely buyers every month, those odd nasty ones always bring me down..0 -

Sorry to hear this. Awful that a minority can still have a go about situations like this. So unreasonable.0
