    Wasn't sure I was going to get paid today but I have! It's amazing that as soon as it's in my bank I cant wait to get rid of it again now! Except of course paying off debt rather than buying "stuff" because its payday!

    So today I've paid off the following:
    * £109.22 off original CC except £33.62 covers the interest so debt actually reduced by £72.90
    * £142.50 off new BT CC so this only covers the balance transfer fee
    * £24 off OD
    * £20 off Next
    *£150 off beds
    *£80 off parents

    Total amount paid - £525.72
    Total debt reduction - £349.60 :j

    So quite a bit went on the balance transfer fee but from now on I won't be paying much interest as there's now only £1,067.64 left on my Bcard at 6.9% interest.

    This plus the money I paid off recently means (according to my snowball) that I have bought forward my debt free date April 2016! It was May 2016 originally (I think - I should really know that!)

    I will also be adding money to my various pots but have changed my budgeting slightly so will be using the money OH gives me so will add it later in the month. I really hope this works and I don't confuse myself! Normally I use his money for groceries and any left goes into the house pot, but as I'm trying to spend less on shopping I'm going to spread the other remaining money around a bit.

    I also have my cambelt to pay for this month - although hoping to be able to pay it at the end of Feb so I can split it over 2 paydays.

    I'm hoping that the council tax won't come out this month as then I can use that money towards the beds. I'm sure it will all be fine but I am now starting to worry that I won't get them paid off in time - only 3 pay days left until the deadline. Not really sure why as I know I can do it, even if it means only paying minimum off other debts, and worse case scenario I won't pay my parents back for a couple of months or borrow any shortfall from them. I really do worry too much!

    Right off to update my signature! :j

    Just checked the when's your debt free date thread - and apparently it was initially July 2016! So I've brought forward my DFD more than I thought!

    yay for payday :j That's an amazing amount to be able to pay off in one month, I'm very jealous. :p Its good that you've already budgeted for the car repairs, I've rejigged my savings target to include the tax as well as the insurance; starting small otherwise I'll get overwhelmed trying to save thousands for house insurance, car repairs, holidays etc.
  • yay for pay day and debt repayment, that's a great amount you've paid off this month, well done!

    I feel like I'm neglecting my diary as I haven't done a general ramble in a while! But to be honest, not a lot is going on (however I'm sure I will now ramble for ages!)

    I'm definitely being a million times better with money than I even have been in the past. I actually know what I've spent each day and on what. Today will be a NSD and yesterday almost was! I was dropping some stuff in the charity shop for my boss and seen a lovely jumper - so £4 on a jumper isn't too bad. And it's actually a sensible warm jumper! And I had been looking for a jumper! I really need some new boots and have money aside for them, I just cant find any I like which is exactly the reason why I wore my old ones into the ground! I must be the fussiest person even when it comes to black boots! Seriously - there's hundreds out there, but I cant find "just" what I'm looking for!

    I think I am a bit MSE obsessed though! I tell my friends about all these little bits and pieces I'm doing and they think I'm nuts! However, I love free money and always have! So I don't see how using TCB is "too much hassle" - particularly when I've clocked up over £200 in there since I started using it! Ok that was a while ago but it's still £200 for doing not a lot!

    My favourite new thing is meal planning! One it makes me spend less and two it takes out all the effort of trying to think each day what I can russle up with random ingredients!

    So really nothing interesting to report here!

    Ha, I mentioned to my colleagues that I might try the 'no shampoo' thing that I saw on a frugal facebook page and she looked horrified. Sometimes I forget that not everyone is as enthusiastic about money saving as the MSE forums!:rotfl:
    I think most of my diary entries are unrelated rambles, but it seems to help me, if I think i'm going to have to 'confess my spending sins' I really do think twice about buying something.
    Ive not done meal planning for a while, I really need to get back in to it!

    I definitely do consider that I'm going to have to be honest on here when thinking about buying things!

    However, I jinxed myself with my post yesterday! I possibly got caught by a mobile speed camera this morning on my way to work:eek: Oops!

    Plus I need to take OH's dog to the vet on Friday and don't have any money put aside! When I say OH's dog - he is my OH's and we share him with OH's mum as she is at home during the day, but he is with us a lot of the time and I love him to bits! So I'm not sure how we'll split the bill - don't think its fair to ask OH's mum to contribute and I now feel that I need to pay something rather than sting my OH with the whole bill. Hopefully it wont be a lot but he has a lump which feels like its a grass seed or something under the skin, so if they say they need operate it could be pricey! I just hope it's nothing serious but he's absolutely fine in himself so fingers crossed.

    Also my car is in the garage on Friday which is costing just over £200 - although I did know this was coming.
