Hi Shoes
I've got a few bank accounts - current account for my spends, bills account which all the DDs come out off, separate account for my house fund, ISA for emergency fund and then an old savings account for all the other pots (holidays, car, haircuts etc).
For the various pots for holidays, car etc - I've got a spreadsheet which I keep a running total in for each pot so I know how much in the account belongs to each pot. I have a separate little spreadsheet for each month which brings in the amount remaining from previous month, amount added and amount spent for each pot.
Hope that helps!
Twiggy xDebt as at 5 June 2023 - £15,600.89
Current debt - £5,435.00
Total paid off - £10,165.89 (65% paid off)0 -
I should also say for my spends - I draw out my allowance each week as I find I spend less when its in hard cash (rather than the virtual kind!) Also that means I don't spend it all at the beginning of the month and then leave myself with nothing, as worried then there would be the temptation to use the CC again (which I haven't done used at all since my LBM!)Debt as at 5 June 2023 - £15,600.89

Yes I think I'm going to allow £5 a day happy cash for whatever- no spends will be saved up and paid in once a week or month to credit card. Was considering adding the £62.50 a week for entertainment to the happy cash so it's all lumped together but maybe not wise. Not sure.
Thanks for the info, need to mull it over- DFD 4th July 2015

Hi diary! I'm back after a lovely Christmas!
Think I spent the least I ever have on Xmas but the presents were really well received as I'd put a lot of thought (but not a lot of money) into them.
Haven't spent any money for the past few days. Met some friends yesterday but ate before I went and drunk water. Still had a great time without spending a penny!
I transferred the money spent on my cc from my house renovation fund as couldn't stand that I'd put something on there. So when oh pays me back I'll put it back in there.
So overall Xmas hasn't thrown me off track particularly! Only problem is that oh hasn't been paid and I use his money for the food shop. So we'll just have to make do until he gets paid again - which won't be until 9 January I think! At least I have plenty of pizzas! Will need a few bits like bread before then but will keep it to a minimum. Plus he will pay me for the weeks he's missed - although it will take him a few weeks to catch up. Did have a good chat the other night and I think he's properly on board now. Fingers crossed as the better he is with money the quicker the debts will go down!Debt as at 5 June 2023 - £15,600.89

Well Done Twiggy!
I love your spreadsheet idea. I think I need to sit down and work out a better system for myself and the OH. Our shopping budget is all over the place and we are sill wasting too much food.
Hope you have a fab New Year!

Just checked my bank account and the cash back from my bank had gone in - £5.51. So I've paid £5 off the beds and 51p off the OD. Not a lot but still feels good to be making a payment around Christmas time rather than just spending!
NYE will be free as people are coming here - got some nibbles and a few drinks so nothing else needed. Obviously had to buy them to start with but don't need to spend anything else like taxis.Debt as at 5 June 2023 - £15,600.89
