Having spoken to the seller mtm I can tell you its not how it works and he isnt doing anything illegal.

I still bet that he is not replacing faulty psps with a 'Brand New One' like he claims though.

That’s very magnanimous of you after calling him an illiterate idiot ;)

I used to repair Xbox’s in a similar fashion. Spares are readily and cheaply available. Most faults tend to be the same (user damage to buttons etc), attempts to ‘chip’ the box without the experience. With the right test equipment, knowledge and tools it’s feasible, pleasant and worthwhile way to pass the time. I used to do very well out of it but it was not worth the hassle of trying to keep it up alongside a fulltime job, children etc.

Incidentally, I used to be contacted by a lot of people who were sure I was trying to rip them off. Needless to say, I did no such thing. In the end I just used to tell people to make their own minds up as I did not have time to persuade them that I was legit. It’s not easy running small businesses like this as you don’t have teams of people to handle calls and respond to emails.

  • It is easy to fix a PSP and phones with a little know how, I managed to build my own computer and i'm no genius but I have learnt a bit in my many years!! It is more cost effective to exchange and buy faulty ones to use for parts as they are sometimes very expensive. Some could just need re-soldering, bricked and software faults would need flashing and some would just need minor parts replacing. I realise the term brand new was misleading it was meant to refer to the fact that your PSP was not being fixed and returned to yourself. All the exchanged ones are as good as new and I would replace if any had faults later, within a reasonable time frame, the same as a shop.

I am quite intrigued to know what your "degree" is in? I would also suggest you take the time to use a spellchecker if you are going to try proving your intelligence with a string of long words. It does infuriate me when such powerful insults are thrown about by those that do not even know how to spell them.

I find your posts completely unacceptable for a board of this nature and extremely "pervy" as previously stated. We are here to understand about a PSP transaction, NOT as a dating service. If you're so desperate for a woman then try changing your attitude. This is money saving expert.. You will find the meat section at Asda..

  • If you buy a PSP you automatically receive a 1 years manufacturing guarentee. If it faulters in that time you are intitled to an exchange at the shop that you purchased it from or go directly to Sony, easily contactable through their web site. They will only fix it though if they deem it is a manufacturing fault, UK model and you have the proof of purchase. After the first year they will fix it for the set rate of £115 no matter what the fault. You must always go to the manufacturer within this first year because if it is tampered with then you have waved goodbye to your guarentee.
  • There is a market for private fixing due to the high cost of manufacture repair or to repair faults that are not covered in manufacture repair such as bricking, waterdamage or imported models. The price of fixing goes up significantly when parts are purchased through the manufacturer instead of using working second-hand parts. If fixed through the manufacturer they do't extend your guarentee it stays to 1 year after the date of purchase.
  • The comments made by myself last night were in retaliation to what had been said about myself. I have appologised to those involved as I acted in temper. As they were not made to you why does it offend you pinkladymel? Have we not learnt not to judge a book by its cover? I read how I was a fraud, needed police investigation, should be kicked off Ebay and reported to Sony all by people who I had never spoke to. Would it make you angry that people thought you were scum for nothing? I feel I have made amense privately to those involved. Perhaps you should do the same because in my book your quick jibes are no different to mine last night and 'not suitable for a board of this nature'.

If you had not misrepresented your service by stating 'brand new' (and there's no way IMO that you can use the term brand new by accident) then everyone would have known exactly how your service worked. What puzzled everyone was that you stated 'brand new' and we were having a laugh trying to work out why someone would give you a 'brand new' psp for a broken one.

Is there a reason that you don't just offer a repair service or state in your listing that you are giving them a reconditioned or previously repaired psp.

Your listing was extremely misleading and should have been reported.
