Has anyone noticed that it is always benefit people that constantly moan about not having enough money when there are plenty of low paid workers who wont get a raise in their income this year, or last year and dont have a car supplied to them with all the costs involved and Im sure feel suicidal at times because they cant afford to be off work ill as they cant afford to lose the wages or even afford the cost of prescriptions these days.

For a lot of disabled people, their income isn't that high at all. When I switched from JSA to ESA, I lost some £30 a week, which when you're on a low income, is a lot of money. I was given the same amount of money as someone on JSA who is fit and healthy. Yes, I had my DLA; but that was not a lot and as someone who was newly diagnosed, I was having to pay a lot of money to get the equipment I needed and there was a lot of trial error with that.

Not every disabled person has a car supplied to them. The car is leased via the disabled persons benefit payments and for many, a hefty advanced payment.

CAN YOU POINT ME TOWARDS THE POSTS WHERE DISABLED PEOPLE ARE SAYING THEY DONT GET ENOUGH?
IF YOU BOTHERED READING, YOU WOULD SEE THAT MOTANILITY CARS ARENT 'SUPPLIED' THEY ARE paid FOR, FROM dla/pip BENEFITS THAT HAVE BEEN AWARDED DUE TO SIGNIFICANT DISABILITY.
YOU SEEM TO THINK THAT DISABILITY BENEFITS ARE PAID TO ALLOW THE RECIPIENT TO HAVE A LIFE OF LUXURY AT THE POOR LOW PAID WORKERS EXPENSE.
ALL I CAN SAY IS ....
IGNORAMCE IS NEVER A DEFENCE FOR STUPIDITY

In that case stop being ignorant and stupid and putting your view in bold capitals.

Is there any need to be so rude to anyone who has a different opinion than you do?

Not all benefits are awarded to to quote you - BENEFITS THAT HAVE BEEN AWARDED DUE TO SIGNIFICANT DISABILITY.

There are hundreds if not thousands who know every loophole and manage to get every benefit available which could be spent on the more deserving.

And although you may not like it I know at least 2 carers who gave up their part time jobs because the carers allowance was the same as their earnings without having to spend money going to work etc.

    Not everyone is deserving........

Nannytone is not being rude and she is definitely not ignorant or stupid. The fact is she has very little sight and posting that way at least gives her a chance to see a little of what is on the screen.
Please check things out before any name calling next time.

And I think the capitals were Nanny accidentally pressing the caps lock key, rather than doing it on purpose.

i cant actually read the bols, but it allows me to distinguish between my posts and other peoples ...
so rather than reading ( speaking software) the thread from the beginning, i can go to where i left it.

p00.... in the following circumstances ....
you live alone and you are blind. there is very little you can do apart from sit and listen to the TV or spend time on the computer ( until its stupid voice drives you mad!)
you are dependant on other people or expensive equiptment to help you do the most basic things.
if you run out of milk when there is no one with you ... well tough... just go without.
forget about going out unless someone takes you ....
that is yopur life... day in and day out FOREVER.
youre used to being totally independant and working and providing for yourself.

how much money would you need to make life 'liveable' ( remembering that you need to pay for any help you receive)

id be really interested to find out your answer

I admire the way you make it work for yourself.
Too many of us are blissfully ignorant of what others go through, we selfishly only think of our own difficulties.

I think the starting headline of this discussion has caused problems when it used the term 'suffer' and it has given free reign for non DLA/PIP recipients to have a field day.

i dont expect people to understand ...
i dont understand how other people with physical disabilities have to adapt...
it isnt selfish ... its just how it is
it annoys me ( and many other disabled people) that SOME able bodied people think that having a disability is a licence to print money!
they see the increased level of income ( though many dont get an awful lot more than those on JSA) and think we live the life of riley.
they either dont understand, or dont want to understand the high cost of care/equiptment.
i am lucky and have a funded PA...
but i have to co fund her wages to the tune of 60% of my DLA ( well worth it though)
SOME posters like to !!! her wages onto my benefit and talk as though the whole amount is sitting in my purse waiting for me to 'treat' myself to whatever luxury i fancy.
I have NEVER said that i think i deserve more money and have been at pains to say how much i appreciate the level of help i get ....
yet the above posts are stating that # dosabled people think they deserve more'
    where was that posted?
i surely didnt read anyone post that/

I trialled a piece of talking software and after 5 minutes, it annoyed the hell out of me. Before we had smartphones, and therefore, the bigger screens, I used to use a phone with talking software on it. (I could at the time, just about see those screens, I can't read them now) After a while, it got annoying and I don't think my parents liked it either. Ditto the talking watch. And to make it worse, we have a dog who likes jumping up. Him jumping up would sometimes set the voice off.:rotfl:

I am a member of a music group and if the font size isn't big enough, (I do get the songs transposed to my preferred font size) I usually get the person next to me whispering in my ear telling me what chord we have to play. After a few minutes, his voice does get a tad annoying and is off putting.:o

I can sometimes read standard size print; but due to the problems I have with my eyes, it's hard. What I have causes chronic tiredness which doesn't help me at all. And neither does being on medication that causes tiredness either.

I, like Nannytone, don't expect others to understand. But I don't like (I've had this in real life too) this assumption that we just get free money and other stuff thrown at us. I once had someone tell me she was jealous because I was given a load of equipment (software, a printer, laptop and recording device) to help me on my uni course. If I wasn't disabled, I wouldn't need a lot of that equipment and a laptop would cost half the price of the current one I have. The type of laptop I need is also a right pain to get hold of - everyone wants smaller laptops, which I can't see well enough on to use.

  • You need to grow up, my friend. This is a serious subject and involves the loss and potential loss of lives. Not some immature urban myths!

Firstly, you are not my friend.

Secondly, my point was not a randomly immature statement, it was merely used to point out that your unsubstantiated statement that people are dying due to benefits cuts, without citation is akin to the comparison of Elvis to an Alien. It is purely a statement that you are using in a discussion without reference or location of fact.

So, until you can provide actual reference to your point, with evidence of these deaths, I am afraid that your point is equally a myth.
