Morning all - still looks vile outside and Sophie cat is still in bed which does not bode well.

If anyone can be bothered anymore the end of the quarter is looming for Tesco clubcard points - think it might be the 16th so today is a good day to go and use up the pitiful few pointers that came with the last mailing.

I really want to go to Asda instead but I think its going to have to be Tesco

  • Quick question - I've just realised that the pork loin joint I bought in a failed APG has yesterdays date on :( Surely this will be ok if I cook today won't it? It's chilled not frozen. If I tell OH its out of date he won't eat it and I don't eat meat therefore don't know much about this. I don't want to waste it though when an animal has died for this. TIA

Your hubby sounds like mr monkey... I'm sure he thinks that on the stroke of midnight on the best before date it's no longer edible where as 1 minute earlier it was :rotfl:

If it was me and it doesn't smell "off" not turned a funny colour then I would cook it ...

OK...so I knew this moment would happen at some point..I just didnt know when.
DS1 is 16 almost 17 and has delared this morning that he's been invited to his first all night house party on saturday....I have mixed emotions on it mainly over the numbers being invited so what would you do...

Apparently there is a list onthe common room wall inviting all sixth formers,I'm told that he wishes to go along with about 100 others, and its being held in a barn on the farm owned by the family...
He needs to take with him something to drink and from what I can gather he is happy to take something like carling zest or similar...I have said I would rather be involved in the purchase of whatever he takes than have him wander into a supermarket to try to purchase something that would be too strong and indeed put him in trouble.....but again therein lies the question of what is acceptable to take and in what quantity.
I know these things are part of growing up and dont want to come over all heavy handed etc but wanted to throw it open for a few observations from others if I may....

not wanting to scare monger, but please please check he knows his limits and will be sensible the link below is my dd best friends brother, a lad all my kids knew well and thought was very sensible, such a sad waste and now youngsters and booze scares me unbelievably

just a quick query, guys - I quite fancy some soup for lunch and I'd heard there was a Covent Garden coupon offer around at the moment. Does anyone know where the coupon is located? Thankyou

As long as it has not gone grey and no nasty smell when you open it I would have no hesitation eating it. In fact being a regular whoopsie shopper most meat I eat is at least 2/3 days past it's sell by.

Uncooked pork/chicken I tend to stick within 2 days but beef/lamb have been known to go to 4 even 5. :o I won't say how long I keep meat once it's cooked.

I am sure one day over will be fine for your joint. :)

Good news today DD3 had her 6 month check on her broken arm. :D

    It has finally healed. :j:j:j

No rush to take metal work out but when they do they will tidy up the nasty scar. :T Appointment in a year so that her college course is done and dusted. :)

    That is good news :T:T

Still feeling a bit off - might just be a minor ear infection, they can make you feel a bit wobbly but my head is still full of cotton wool

We had a booking this week and even though I looked at the calendar carefully and even sent off an email enquiry I still managed to go a day early - an hour there and back - oh well at least we had our John Lewis cake and coffee so it wasn't a totally wasted trip.
So we went again next day, an hour there and back, right day this time :D :j

I then went to email the cattery about extending a booking I made and I unearthed the original email I sent - only to realise that I had given the wrong dates originally so its a good thing I was extending the booking or we would have shown up with 3 cats and they would not have been ready for us:eek:
Mind you that booking was made August 2013 so I had no excuse for being woolly headed then.

Don't you just want to give yourself a good slap sometimes. I used to organise a very intricate and complicated work, school, college, uni and social schedule for 5 of us plus the 3 cats with no traumas whatsoever and now I cant do it for just the odd event for the 2 of us (and 3 cats :D
