I don't necessarily think they shouldn't get paid that salary but people like doctors, nurses etc are in the business of directly saving lives etc so shouldn't they be valued too?

I found out last week DD2 may be back home after 4th year while she takes time out to do a MA.
Secretly hoping she does live at home as she only came home for a month this summer.
I didn't realise that she won't get student finance if her intercalating degree is a Masters, so Bank of Stubby will be raided.Less so if she lives at home for the year.
How lovely for you tiny you will love having her at home:T:T
I am off to see DGrandson in a few weeks as he will be 21 and is too busy with studies to come home so we are going up to see him instead:A0 -

I know it maybe offensive to many people, but £74,000 is not a lot of money. They should be paid appropriately (like the other people who serve the country).
I also believe that they should be accountable and be held to account, and frequently reminded of who they were elected to serve.
Anyhow… The Wolf of Wall Street is coming on…. is it any good?100 -

this is what really annoys me is the healine £67 or £74k
its all the perks that makes it ridiculous
maybe they should just pay them £120k or something but gotta pay there own staff and expenses out of that so you could see exactly what they got rather than all the cloaks and daggers0 -

I was thinking I hope she doesn't get the wrong message about the ring .... unless it is intended as an engagement ring?
Edit: I see others had the same thought, and you also brought it up to your DSSmiles are as perfect a gift as hugs...

DS2 is considering doing a MA next year, which I will be paying for, sadly he cannot live at home and do a MA in pure maths.. so living expenses as well.
But it is lovely they want to study and progress.
I will never get to retire!
I just hope she copes with it, she will end up with a MA before she has even graduated from medical school, so it mucks up student finance for the last year too as she hopefully will have gained higher qualification. Only saving grace is NHS funding kicks in from year 5 of study so will pay uni fees at BA equivalent so only need to top up for MA fees and 5th year medicine will be covered.
We didn't even know until last week the MA she has picked has four contact blocks of few days each so will be far cheaper to commute and book hotel than pay for a whole years rent/bills somewhere. But it's not definite yet.0
