Maybe what we are doing is a bit cheeky - but we aren't looking to defraud the company, Its their policy. We just like to save money. We shouldn't be made to feel bad about it - and infact. 40,000 people have read this and may decide that rather than visit their normal supermarket they will use Tesco. I am going to PM Martin to see if he can help us once and for all. :)

Hi i was in tesco extra inverness last Thursday with one each of the internet printed vouchers my shopping came to £23.86 i handed the vouchers to the checkout staff and he said oh i am not sure if we take internet printed vouchers so he went and got supervisor the supervisor took me to the customer service desk and said she would find out, so she went and spoke to the manager and she came back and said no they don't accept internet printed vouchers so i said well i am not happy with that and she said would you like to speak to him so i had to stand and wait for about 30 mins when he eventually came and i said well this is not good enough as i know of other people who have used internet vouchers in the store and also that i had an e-mail which stated that they do take internet printed vouchers one per item when you have not brought the product, he just constantly disagreed with me so he said i should take this e-mail in so i printed it off and took it in yesterday and he phoned head office and they confirmed that this currently was the policy but it will be being reviewed shortly so he gave me money back for each of the vouchers that i had for the products that they stocked in the shop so i was handed nearly £5 i said am i going to have to have a fight at the checkout everytime i come in with internet vouchers and he said at least all of the duty managers should know so it does not look as if all the checkout operators will be aware of the policy will let you know next time i use them

Don't know if this has been done as I've not checked through the whole thread.

My local Asda at least, (Sutton, in Surrey), accepts all vouchers, provided they sell the product. They mostly don't seem fussed whether you have more than one the same.

My local store, which is fairly newly opened, accepts all other local retailers' vouchers, though if you have a voucher stating £3 off a £30 spend, (for instance), it does have to be a min. £30 shop. Mine doesn't accept Internet vouchers, though, and some cashiers won't accept vouchers without a bar code, even if it has a price on.

Some cashiers will only accept up to 10% of the total shop, but others don't seem to care, so you can use more vouchers.

    I LIKE Asda! ;D

  • I went to my local Tesco today and went to a Trainee checkout operator - she got a supervisor, who went to check the policy - which was you can have one of each only and no maximum or percentage. The woman behind me was huffing and puffing saying that I was taking too long, both checkout girl and supervisor were killing themselves to make sure they put all the vouchers through - even when I said oh it's Ok don't worry about the non-scanning one - they said "NO - you are entitled to use them" and kept on going! The lady behind continually complained and was going to report me to the manager! I got my discounts off my shopping and legged it over to customer service to commend the girls on the check out!! Not for one second did they make me feel embrassed or bad about using the vouchers - i will be looking out for these girls in the future!!

I took on board a tip that Andrea gave a while ago about people behind you in the Q who get huffy.

Print off any extra £2 durex voucher and give it to that person.

I tried to use internet vouchers at the Bradley Stoke, Bristol store last week. They were refused. I spoke to the duty manager who told me she had been on a course last week where they were specifically told not to accept them.

She was going to speak to head office to double check, but I've heard nothing since....

If thats the case, then the likes of wishvalue and other coupon sites are going to be out of business.

  • Maybe our days are numbered, better go and use them all while we can - I don;t know if I have the cheek to go in there and buy a load of stuff using vouchers over and over again!

  • The woman behind me was so rude - that I wouldn;t want her to even get a whiff of this fabulous use of company policy! :-X
