Just tried to pass some internet vouchers at Tunbridge Wells Tesco. The checkout assistant said they didn't accept them. I said they did. She called her supervisor who repeated what she said. I asked to see the manager who was very friendly, said he didn't think he had to accept them but would check with head office, which he did. Inconclusive directions from them apparently so I'm waiting for him to phone me back once he's investigated further. I must say the checkout assistant was very cautious over accepting some vouchers I had been sent from Tesco and I had to point out to her that I had bought the goods I was claiming discount for. It seems to me that all the staff there have assumed responsibility for blocking our savings.

Just had a phone call from T/Wells Tesco. Head Office says they will no longer accept internet coupons for anything other than the items they relate to other than if an item is out of stock. However as a good will gesture, they will accept one coupon per visit without the necessary purchase, even the £2 Durex apparently.

They want the internet coupons stopped...must be affecting their profits or something.

No and to try and get the old man to download something is like trying to get blood out of a stone. He has had to rebuild the pc so many times after its screwed up he gets a bit overly protective with it.

Went to Tesco's last night and presented the coupons as normal.  The checkout assistant said that they'd just been instructed not to accept any more 'internet' vouchers.  I said that they'd been accepted okay last week, so he gave them to his surpervisor who went off and after several minutes, she returned to confirm this.  The knuckle-dragger in the queue behind me was getting annoyed and I was made to feel like I was trying to defraud them.... it was all quite embarassing.   :-[

On top of all that they seem to have stopped doing the 5p off petrol vouchers...

All I can say is that I won't be going to Tescos any more (unless they misprice the batteries again  ;))... I shall be returning to Waitrose who are not that much more expensive for most things and seem to have better quality produce anyway.
