Hey everyone
I'm getting a bit edgy now as everything is creeping up on me and although I've made progress, I'm nowhere near where I was hoping to be by now.
The house is still a mess, and my finances are not where I want them to be.
So I've decided to give myself a new challenge. It's 90 days until the end of November, which is when I will be looking to stop for a while (assuming baby stays in place) and when I leave work.
I want to get more of the house cleared and get some money put aside. So I am going to challenge myself to get as much as I can done.
There are three main areas:
Paying off debt - target: £3000. This will clear a debt which has a large monthly payment, freeing up a lot of extra cash over my maternity leave (I will still set my monthly targets as well, but have a separate focus on this debt).
Decluttering - target 1000 items. This should easily be done  I will try and get as much out as I can both big and small. Items will be sent to ebay (only counted when sold), car boot and charity and recycling. I will also have to rid myself of my aversion to binning things because we have a lot of 'odds and sods' which are no use to anyone, charities don't want and realistically just need to be binned.
Ebay - goes without saying really. No specific target here, but get as much as I can on and links to both targets above - decluttering and raising extra cash. I will count items listed for DH as it does involve decluttering but will not count any of that financially.
So, the 90 day challenge begins! I have to be mindful of the fact that although the head wants to get on, sometimes (often!) at the moment, the body is saying no. I will continue to try and declutter books when that is the case, because they are by far the largest amount of clutter on my part.
Lets see how well I do
I love targets.

Fantastic targets - good luck .
You are right that you need to listen to your body, so take it fairly easy and give yourself some nice rests. Resist any further urges to lug about large pieces of household equipment.
Looking forward to seeing how you do.0 -

Not to good. The treatment for DH hasn't worked but no one seems to care. Neurologist appt was cancelled but new one not sent and they never answer the phone. The steroids have made him put on weight and that in turn has bought with it further problems. He very rarely leaves the house (I do try to get out for my own sanity). It's hard being chief cook, bottle washer and memory for someone else. I can't see the light at the end of this tunnel.0 -

I believe my desire to shove around large items of furniture has largely gone(Although I really want to move the fridge freezer to clean and paint behind it
)

Oh that sounds like a nightmare. Sorry the treatment isn't working. How frustrating for you, especially not being able to get a new appointment.
It must be incredibly hard on you, and I hope you manage to get some time for yourself as well.
Fingers crossed that you can get hold of them soon, and if you ever need to vent, do so by pm or on here xx"Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". Eoin McGee0 -
Right, so going to make a start today. I have a big list of stuff to list for DH and I've sold a few things, so once they are packed and the money sorted I will hopefully be able to make a payment.
I'm going to find a home for an empty banana box, and then we can dump stuff for the car boot straight into there, and when it's full it can go straight out to the camper van where it's stored. Save me having stuff lying around the house until we get round to moving it.
Had a rough night again with little jwil, he keeps screaming since he's had chickenpox. It took 2.5 hours to settle him last night. Hoping it will pass soon."Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". Eoin McGee0 -
Normally just lurk but have you tried bicarbonate soda in his bath, it helps dry them out
