Hi jwil,
Sorry to hear you are so low. On the childcare, have you talked to them? My DH is out of work right now and similarly needs flexibility. However my nursery is quiet on a Thursday and Friday, so we've taken DS out on those days. They know it's only temporary so could increase easily again once we need f/t care, and with some advance notice can do the odd day to cover interviews. In addition I've spoken to my boss who is happy to be flexible about annual leave should I need to step in. DH at first said he had to stay f/t but I couldn't bear the wasted cash and found a way to make it work. Worth investigating further maybe?
Thanks mfmaybe. I'll have a think about it. It's a good idea. I'm reluctant to, as they love nursery, and hopefully it's only a short term issue, but it's worth looking into.Hi jwil.
I'm so sorry you've been struggling so much and that most of payment to end up paying the interest and not servicing the debt.
It does sound like a DMP is the way forward for you. At least the end will be in sight.
Sorry you've been feeling down. I hope your OH manages to find another job soon and that things soon pick up for you too. ((Hugs))
Happy new year. When things hit rock bottom, the only way is up. So things can only improve jwil.
Thanks tattycath, how are you doing?
I am happy that the DMP is the right solution, I just wish I could get on with paying it back, and live a little easier! I'm sure it will all get better soon."Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". Eoin McGee0 -

Hi Jwill, sorry you have been feeling down. A dmp sounds like the right thing to do and although it seems demoralising right now those numbers will start to tumble.
I can relate with the childcare costs it's short term losses but it will be a nice amount not to pay when childcare is free.

Hi Happy! Lovely to 'see' youHow are you getting on and your little man?
Thank you, I think once everything gets sorted then it will all go the right way!"Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". Eoin McGee0 -
Right everyone, enough with the moping, I must get back on with it.
I have prepped a load of listings and so going to get those uploaded tonight.
When I finish work I am going to KM my clothes and the kids clothes once and for all. I've partly done it, but not properly.
I bought both Marie Kondo books this week, it is my birthday present to myself. I did have the first book before but sold it. I am going to keep it this time until I have finished the process so I can re-read it if I need to. I was hoping to get Dh to read it, but he is resisting. I also asked him to sort his clothes today so we could do a big charity shop run, but he said no. *sigh*. Well I'm going to continue regardless,
I've printed off a detailed category list and going to work through it. Hopefully I'll come up with a load more to sell, and then hopefully DH will get on board eventually.
DH is still looking for work. He's got the odd bit of temping, but nothing major yet. Fingers crossed something will come up soon. It's not a happy home at the moment.
Work is busy, I do miss being at home, but it's nice to get away as well from it all. I've been given a new project which if I do well, *might* help protect my job in the longer term, which will be something. It's one of those things that could make me more essential so would push me down the redundancy list... Its inevitable that there will be more cuts, so anything that might reduce the likelihood of it being me is a good thing.
DH has done lots of selling this month, so I can't completely moan at him but I haven't done a lot. I've sold a few things that I already had on, but haven't really done a lot towards my targets. Must get some focus back again."Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". Eoin McGee0 -

We 'bought' a new laptop using nectar points :T It cost me a whole £1.50 in cash :j I've put my old office software on there too so thats good. It means that we can both be working at the same time doing stuff. I've managed to connect them too so we can put photos on one and see them on both for ebay listing etc.
I've been trying to keep up with surveys and am waiting for some paypal from one site, and received £5 amazon from another. Close to cashing out on a couple more so hopefully will get those soon.
February is a busy birthday month for us, (including little jwil's 4th  ) Mine too and several relatives. I've sorted one, and I won a free photoshoot for the kiddies with a free print, so hoping that will sort another. Little miss wasn't too cooperative, but going in next week to see the pics and hope they got something decent."Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do".
