I'm glad you liked it jonny - unfortunately it wasn't a inception style joke within a joke, my phone decided to jumble the letters as I was scrolling down.0

I'll tell you what Doc, I've been watching this post with interest, taking note of both point of views and asking myself the question , would it be worthwhile myself getting WT or AS even, i'm not sure yet, but will look into it more closely.
I am all fo a bit of humour on the forums, but frankly you're so called attempt at humor on post 149 is anything but, it's uncalled for and is usually the sort of thing school kids come away with, very bad taste and I would imagine offensive to not only jonesy especially, but other folk as well0 -
Ugh, this thread got all trollish......
Youtube, search for winter tyre tests and judge for yourself.
They make a HUGE improvement to grip levels in ALL conditions at temperatures below 7 degrees C.
Here's a bonus link for you https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=STaximkaQxo
The ONLY problem with winter tyres is that they're hard to get hold of for most of the year and supply is limited, BECAUSE 90% of the UK are bl**dy idiots who think that the only way to drive in winter is to have a 4x4 and driving a BMW makes you middle class and VW Golf are the most reliable cars. Brainless idiots who listen to gossip over proven facts.“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

Love these threads. always the same response - 'why do you need extra grip, if you were a proper driver like me, you could drive just as well on bald summer tyre, get some extra training, and be as skilled as me, I could drive an F1 up a mountain pass in winter on slicks!'0

I think you've got the wrong thread sunshine - I haven't seen anyone say anything remotely resembling that.0

It's all about stacking the odds in your favour. Get the best grip and training you can.
But on the other hand why bother?
You'll stop and maintain control only to be struck by a retard on bald ditch finders.0 -

I do know what I'm doing. Its the company that provides the van I don't have much choice other than to say yes or no to take it out.
Rear wheel drive automatic 3.5 ton. No winter programme on the gearbox to give you that little bit of help and no manual mode that you can force 2nd gear to pull away. Summer tyres and loading right up to the legal limits doesn't help.
I done 8 winters, 7 of them with snow. All of them I done the really cold mornings with ice in the countryside. I have never damaged a van either. Not much can be said of my fellow drivers some have written vans off in less worse areas than me.
But I would've delivered to far more customers if I had the right kit for the job, correct tyres will help.0 -

I had 2 bmw's because they were the best cars for the money.
M3's and M5's don't get beaten in their class.
Brainless is ignoring all their good points and going for something not as good.
They were both a few years old and worth less than £10k, so how that makes you middle class I don't know.
Don't you drive a Vectra?
Remember Clarkson asking how they could possibly have made it worse, by making the wheels square and seats made out of sick I think was his answer.0
