1000 kilometres =
2 187 226.6 cubits
Says mr googleNo reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0 -
120km/h.
I think that's 15 poles per cubic chain per hecto fathom.
Metric is easier once you've gotten used to it. Far easier. Bet you can't remember how many chains there are to a ton or tons in a cubic inch. 1,000 litres are in a kilo-litre though. Why you'd need a kilo-litre is a different question.0 -

It's about time the EU imposes metric on these islands.
About the origin of the yard:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/YardOne postulate was that the yard was derived from the girth of a person's waist, while another claim held that the measure was invented by Henry I of England as being the distance between the tip of his nose and the end of his thumb
Come on, it's the 21st Century.....

Thank you both.
Anyone got a cure for hiccoughs? I've gotta sleep.
If they have i need it I have had very frequent hiccoughs since my stroke. Many times each day interupting, speaking , eating, sleeping. It is embarassing . In hospital I asked the Consultant if it was linked to my stroke, he responded that it was the wrong kind of stroke for hiccoughs. After that if anyone asked me if I wanted to ask about anything else I never mentioned it as it is bit difficult saying yes its about my hiccoughs when everyone around you cant sit up or speak.Five months later I am still hiccoughing.0 -
Well, I stayed quiet on the hiccuping (prefer the vernacular spelling else I pronounce the word hiccoffing in my head and that's awkward), but with a shortage of "I know this" posts, I'll wade in.
I've never heard of anything that actually worked. There are some who say drinking from the wrong side of a cup (by bending over forwards in half to achieve it) and getting a fright to scare it away .... worth trying, maybe them failing and you rolling around laughing will fix it

TBH I was guilty of using a lot of jargon. In my defence the post was aimed at a small subset of our group and if I'd explained every word and theory it'd have been a 2,000 word post plus graphs!
As I say, I needed to delete without it being quoted and this is where I can do that. Sorry (British style!) for going off topic or, worse, on topic.
Happy to explain any parts of investment theory BTW. Just ask here or PM me. It's good to understand a basic amount of just as it's good to have a very basic understanding of economics.
Thanks. I haven't got enough brain space for that ATM, but I might come back later and take you up on your kind offer.
Probably nothing more sinister than a little flag by your name that says, "if michaels wants this deal, it must mean he will tie us in knots so we will end up paying him to take the phone= decline"
Agree with silvercar. Records of your financial dealings probably make it quite easy to identify you as someone who is out to play the system, and therefore just the sort of person that companies want to avoid dealing with.Josh smashed the interview at Northampton, they offered him a place at the end of the interview.
:T:T:TDo you know anyone who's bereaved? Point them to https://www.AtaLoss.org which does for bereavement support what MSE does for financial services, providing links to support organisations relevant to the circumstances of the loss & the local area. (Link permitted by forum team)
Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.

4,852th antenatal appointment was just like all the other ones, everything seems fine. OH starting to get v uncomfortable though. The bump is outgrowing her maternity clothes now!
Something like 2-3 weeks to go although I am starting to hope that she goes into labour as soon as possible as it is already destroying her back.0 -
Are you planning for a natural birth? Is the 2-3 weeks normal for twins or single babies?
How are you feeling??Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.
