If Pastures is around, Richer Sounds has a TV sale on at the moment. This is a great value basic 1080p TV for £139 if she doesn't want a big one and basically want it for watching Freeview. Its 22" and you get a five year warranty included.

Larger TVs are available. BIL buys TVs in bulk and says Samsung are excellent - best for LED TVs on market. Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? Okay, I was quite dubious, but we have big fat snow. It won't settle as it was rain and it really doesn't feel cold enough, but my kids are impressed.Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

Belated Happy Christmas to all NP who celebrate it
Gen, I didn't see your original post so I'm not sure what's happened but I do hope that things improve for you and the family.Doozergirl wrote: »Is it snowing anywhere? Are you going to see the snow?
Mum and Dad drove up here from Inner Herts on 23rd, and were due to go home tomorrow.
For once, we've had a very relaxing time this Christmas, watching TV, eating and playing Uno (still speaking to each other, just!!).
Dad went to the Minster on Christmas Day morning, while Mum and I went to my church instead, which was fab (talk was by 'Bishop Nicholas, otherwise known as St Nicholas aka Santa Claus' ... cue animated 4' high puppet with moving head in the pulpit throughout the talk!! :rotfl: )
The only downside was Mum taking the opportunity before bedtime on Christmas Eve to elaborate on ALL her concerns about Dad's health ... I know these conversations need to be had at some point, but not just before bedtime at Christmas!
Anyway, they decided to leave earlier this afternoon because of the uncertainty about the snow forecast and likely traffic tomorrow. I made Delia's superb cottage pie recipe from the leftover roast beef, and sent them down the A1 with portions of that to heat up when they do get home - hopefully in an hour or so.lostinrates wrote: »There is so much pressure at this time of year to have a reliable family and strong friend network, opits easy to feel freakish if its simply that the people around you are a bit....self interested or whatever. I agree. If you have a partner / family around you, at least it means that you are unlikely to be alone at Christmas - but this brings its own pressures. If you don't have such people around you, you have to find alternative ways of not being alone at this time of year - or accept being alone when all the commercialism tells you that you must be with friends / family.0 -

Is it something similar to the equally mythical left over wine?0 -

What is this strange concept of left over roast beef??
Is it something similar to the equally mythical left over wine?
:rotfl:
M&D brought a rolled beef joint 1.5kg (3lb) with them. We only ate half of it between the 3 of us on Christmas Day - but a much smaller piece wouldn't have cooked as well (so I'm told).
We were lucky not to have far more leftover ... when Dad went to collect the meat order from the farm shop, they had prepared a 3 kg piece instead  Luckily the farmer's wife was individually checking each order before it was handed over, and got it cut to the right size. The cost would have been extortionate for double the amount.
There is a small amount of left over red wine for me tonight  I reckon we've got through 4 bottles in 3 days, which isn't bad for us!0 -
They've rolled out Morcambe and Wise. Again.
At what what point do we get re-runs of the Smell of Reeves and Mortimer instead?Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.
