Went to see Led Zep in Brussels in 1980. A few months later, John Bonham passed away.
Wow.
I've never been to a proper metal concert. Closest is probably hmmm dunno actually. Pop Will Eat Itself had the leather trousers and the noise. Big Audio Dynamite had the 'tude. Clapton had the guitaring. U2 had the stage presence (bunch of Richards though).0 -

Ahhh...went to see loads early eighties.
Thin Lizzy, Judas Priest, Alice Cooper, Blue Oyster Cult, Rush, Maiden, Whitesnake, Ozzy....whenever a decent band came to Brussels, we were there.
Problem was, Brussels was (and probably still is) a bit of a black hole concert wise, with many bands skipping Brussels on their European tours, opting for Paris, Amsterdam or Cologne instead. Train tickets were cheap though.0 -

Of course!!! I saw The Cult at Wemberlee Arena in about 1988. My mate got really drunk and kept falling on the bloke in the seats in front and then fell asleep very shortly before he got the crap kicked out of him. Lucky break. We carried him back to the train station.
TBH I'm not much of a metal fan. I like the really, really good stuff like Led Zep and that old British stuff. I was too young to see those bands play live really, at least without getting felt up by a Radio 1 DJ.
Ace of Spades I really like too. I always thought that would be a song to die to when I was younger: drive a Ferrari off a cliff with that playing at full volume.
Most of the American stuff I can take or leave. I get why people like it but it's not my thing.0 -

Never thought of U2 as metal. They were brill at the Jools show last week. Only other band you've mentioned that I've seen is Clapton who was great. I loved Big Audio Dynamite but never saw them. Always wanted to see the Who but was puzzled by how they seemed to be associated with mods when they were more rock.
Led zep had one song Kashmir that I can't get enough of.There is no honour to be had in not knowing a thing that can be known - Danny Baker0 -

Nor me. I was saying that the bands had various aspects of a metal concert but none of them were metal bands.
I saw Clapton play in a golf club on a Sunday night. My mate was a barman there and told me to go along. Clapton used to play in a trio with a bassist called 'Cup Cake' and a drummer. They used to play pubs around Surrey and West Sussex now and again. This would have been about 1988 or 89 I guess. I would have been standing about 10ft from him.
It's funny really. As they didn't have a sound man or anything, they sounded a bit rough, like a pub band (I used to see a lot of pub bands back then). They were really tight though.
They mostly played blues standards, it wasn't the Eric Clapton Back Catalogue Show by any means. IIRC they played Leila though. I guess that's become a blues classic if not a standard anyway.0 -
My father in laws claim to fame was he knew well Mott the Hoople and indeed the band rehearsed at his farm and he was a roadie for them in the mid to late 60's, he didnt go to london with them and missed out on the Bowie stuff. When using the housing forum please use the sticky threads for valuable information.0

They have newspapers and magazines here, but wifi access and they even lend people iPads.
On the special drinks board today is Bombay sapphire gin with fever tree tonic served over ice with a slice of cucumber.0 -

I don't think you should keep blaming yourself after over 30 years. In fact, his death may have had very little to do with your seeing them.No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0
