Thank you Sassy and Supersaver, your posts have had the desired result and I am feeling more focussed this morning, if not quite raring to go!
The reality is that I am normally starting January having clocked up an extra £1,000 of debt over November and December and 8/9 lb of additional weight. I broke that longstanding pattern this year and I am not going to self sabotage in January. This is no time to rest on my laurels, the holiday is over and I am now going to shift my backside :rotfl:and enjoy a productive January.
I will hide the key to the garage so that no wine is consumed until next weekend. We still seem to have a lot of full bottles left in there?? :A.

Yesterday was a productive day and I feel better for it!
The banana and walnut loaf was delicious and I have sliced most of it up and put it in the freezer so that it does not scupper my diet plans.
I also converted all the various bits of vegetables lying around into a huge dish of chickpea and vegetable tikka masala and a pot of scotch broth.
I can't believe that the first week in January is nearly over. On the plus side I have had 4 NSD's, but on the minus I have not done any of my 100 hours training. I am readjusting that to 70 and heading back to work and college today.

Hey hon
The banana and walnut cake sounds delicious and I was very upset the postman didn't bring me my slice!
Totally agree that January must be productive or we will all slip back into our bad habits and then we'll be annoyed with ourselves - and no-one wants that!
Good luck getting your training groove on again, that's always the hardest for me so hang on in there.
Have a good dayxx

I was absolutely shattered yesterday after my first day back in a proper work/training/exercise/eating/parenting mode. I slept in this morning and I am already feeling completely overwhelmed!
Today is the second day of my 0-5k training session with DF, which is scheduled for this evening. At the moment the forecast is foul, it is freezing cold and there is an icy wind blowing. I feel chilled to the bone just listening to the weather.

I am going to keep going though. I will run a hot bath, light my gold candle, chill, and then adjust the schedule on my Dodo pad to see how everything can still be fitted it.

Hey hon
If you're feeling rubbish atm remember it can only get better the fitter you become. This is the lowest point you should be and it can only go upwards!
Good luck!xx

Thanks Sassy for the encouragement, it is really appreciated! You are right, I am not going to leap straight up from two weeks of being cosetted and pampered into full production mode. It is going to take some adjusting.
I exercised self discipline yesterday, and ticked all my boxes although I did not want to do anything. Today, for the first day this year, I actually got up at my usual time, 6.00 am, with the beginnings of a spring in my step and a bit of enthusiasm for real life.
As if coping with all my own training was not challenging enough, DS is preparing for his mock exams, which will start next week, and I have been roped in to testing him on various things.
He seems to be on track for everything except Spanish, and I am the least person in the world qualified to help anybody with languages as I managed a 'U' in French, and was bottom of the class.
After much deliberation I have engaged the services of the most stunning young Spanish woman to tutor DS via Skype, whose credentials are impeccable. DS is like a boy whose Christmas' have come together all at once!!!!
It is going to cost me another £10.00 a week, so that will take the total tuition to £180.00 a month, for Physics as an extra subject and Spanish for support. Although that is quite a lot, I have reasoned that it is only until May.
We have spent very little on DS' education, whereas around here 25% of children, a couple of whom are DS's friends, go to fee paying schools where the parents fork out £10,000 + a year just for tuition.
I will not have to adjust the budget this month as Physics tuition is coming in less than expected as the tutor has cancelled a lesson due to illness.

Morning
I think if you have the money and you feel it's worth it then why shouldn't you invest a bit more into your child's education? I know it's another tenner a week but it's only short term and the benefits should be worth it. You did make me giggle with the description of the tutor and your son's Christmases coming all at once
Have a great dayxx

I narrowed it down to two tutors who both had excellent reviews, one was a demure Spanish man in his 50's called Jesus. The other was a well endowed Spanish girl in her early twenties, wearing a low cut top, called Sonia.
What kind of mother am I to have chosen Sonia over Jesus???? I blame it all on MSE; Jesus would have cost me £14.00 an hour.

I think the Spanish girls attributes may be just what a young lad may need to encourage him to study!!

I was at my last Slimming World meeting today, and I have put on 1lb.
I am OK with that, it still means that I have lost 7lb since I started and that contained the Christmas and New Year period.
I am re-grouping for the next stone though. I have the new SW book and I am going to weigh in on the MSE thread every Saturday from now on, and stop paying out class fees.

I have exactly 40 more days until I get to the end of my 108 steps and I am going to make them count!! Today I am going to read the SW book, menu plan breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks for the week and do an economical shop at A*di.
I used A*ldi for the first time last week and it worked out cheaper than a similar shop in Lidl. There is a very large store in a major town about 10 miles away, so I have booked a mystery shop in there too, today, to justify the journey.Training Loan - £1300.00/£1,500 (13%), Halifax CC 300.00/£925.00 (31%), OS Weight loss 7.0lb/24lb (29%), Extra inc Nov £220, Dec £532.00, Jan Ex Inc target £200.00.
