    Good morning,

This explosive cyclogenesis or "weather bomb" is bombarding us at the moment with earth shaking thunder, driving, icy rain and a severe gale.

I was so, so cosy, curled up in my duvet, thinking that the schools would be closed and work would advise us to stay at home, but after a check on the internet, it would appear that we are expected to risk life and limb and venture out.

    Spider Step 54

Half way through my 108 day challenge and I am not sure what way to set my sail this morning.

It is a natural duvet day, where my sail would ordinarily get a rest, but there is too much that I want to get organised and so I will write a list now and try and make today as productive as possible while hoping that the trees choose to protect me rather than fall on top of me.

    Hi Sassy,

Well I am trying to make today as productive as possible, as per my spider step, but I feel overwhelmingly lethargic. I have spent most of the day aimlessly surfing the net and watching the ever changing weather from the window.

Your post has spurred me to action though.

    Today I am going to:-

    - Sort out the mound of washing on radiators
    - Put two things on ebay
    - Finalise my bank account switch
    - Do my abs and squats
Edit - all the above are done :T

If the weather improves by this evening ..... highly unlikely ....

Edit - It has improved and I am heading out!!

    I will:-

    - Deliver 250 yellow pages with DS.
    - Go running with my friend - we will be blown around the circuit.

    Wish me luck x.

  • Well done Wf8. I tried to switch but the account I wanted to switch isn't accepted. I am going in to store to find out.

Hope you managed your deliveries and your running.l

    Thanks Supersaver,

I was so pleased to finish that lot yesterday. It made me realise that even if most of the day is a write-off productivity wise, which happens to me on a regular basis as my energy ebbs and flows, there is still the back shift. I just needed some encouragement and a victory of mind over mattress!!

The account that I am switching to is Clydesdale/Yorkshire bank. It was extremely easy. They did not need any direct debits on the account and any current account is acceptable. They are also offering £150.00!!

Even better, I was told I could open up another joint account too, if I had another current account for switching, this would also qualify for £150.00. I have an RBS current account that I use for mystery shopping so that will be transferred on Friday when DH is around for verification.

I am not even switching my main current account, which is with the H*lifax, because I really like their online system. Happy days!

With the switching, the yellow pages, some mystery shopping, taking some clothes back, and ebaying, I will have around £750.00 making its way to my account and DS will have £200.00. £950.00 is not bad for extra income!! and I am being extremely careful about spending money too.

    Spider Step 55

Finalise the extra income flow, apart from the extra current account which I will schedule for tomorrow.

    - Chase up Topcashback
    - Make a spring clean list to start once YP are finished - Sunday.

I now have £30.00 winging its way from Topcashback and a cleaning list.

In keeping with my love of 8's. I have broken the jobs down into a total of 48 small steps and I have 8 days to complete the tasks, 6 jobs a day.

I would love to have achieved by the 21st December 2014:-

    - A clean, decluttered house
    - £750.00 of extra income
    - Firmly within budget
    - Weight at it's lowest this year

    Spider Step 56

Produce a visual with those four things on it and my 48 point cleaning list below it, for marking off!

  • Morning hon

Wow! You have had a productive few days haven't you, top work :)

I should really break down my income into earning and extra as I haven't as yet so don't really think about it. It wasn't until last week when I was asked how much I'd lost that I realised that sometimes it's quite a bit. I'll do that in a bit I think.

Love the idea of your board for your 48 steps, I reckon it'll be the best board around. Also, I looked at the bank switch too but don't think I could put across that much as I don't really want to switch from my main bank as they're just across the road. Shame as it's a good deal.

Have a good day hon :) xx

    Thanks Sassy x

I was at the Slimming Club yesterday and I lost 1.5lb. There were only 9 of us rattling around in the class whereas normally we are around 60 souls.

Apparently, the average person puts on 7lb over the Christmas period, so I am on high alert now to stop myself repeating a cycle that has been going on for the last 20 years, bingeing and over- spending over the Christmas and New Year break only to spend the first quarter of the following year berating myself and trying to repair the damage. Each year it gets harder, as my metabolism and income fall.

Because I have never been able to reverse this trend I have a deep-seated belief that I can’t. In reality I have just been a lemming, following the majority over a debt and weight cliff.

    Spider Step 57

Plot my own course over the next 3 weeks based around yesterday’s goals, vision board, and the words of Thoreau.

"If a man loses pace with his companions, perhaps it is because he hears a different drummer. Let him step to the music which he hears, however measured, or far away."

I am bored with being Mrs Average – time to do things differently .:).

I had a lovely, relaxing day yesterday, where I had two social events in one day! It was a girlie pizza and wine lunch date, where we watched a lovely film called “Belle”, which was particularly poignant because the host’s grandson’s father is Ghanaian and a very close friend of mine is too.

I went straight from there to a sophisticated dinner party, which was also very interesting as one of the guests is involved with creating government policy so we had an interesting political debate.

Back to reality today and the last 600 yellow pages to deliver in the rain ………. Last time we were out the bins were out too and no sooner were we dropping the books through the letter boxes than they were being deposited in to the bins. We could have saved everyone a job if we had posted them in there directly.

In early 2015 I will return my focus to the job front.

    Morning,

I have received my regular x-mas present from my employer which is notification that a major review is concluding and that people affected in the next round of cost-cutting will be informed at the end of January. The word on the street is that they are hoping to lose 1/3rd of their head count.

It usually bothers me, but this year it is water off a duck's back. It has strengthened my resolve to leave the employment on February 16th 2015, after a planned mid-term break, and push for voluntary redundancy. Any illusion I had that there was any security here has dissolved.

It is another ending that has been long overdue and I am going to keep my spirits up and a positive focus to ensure that I have full time work mid-February to move on to.

    Onwards and Upwards!

    Spider Step 59

Ensure that I am up to date with abs and squats, finances and house cleaning list.
