Can you book online? That way there will be no-one to explain to or feel uncomfortable with. Then go and enjoy your holiday.0

What's the problem with telling them he snores? It's very very common and makes total sense that you want separate rooms so you can both enjoy your holiday.
I also know couples where one is an insomniac and they prefer separate rooms.
This is not at all a problem

Can't add much Flossie. All I can do is agree with everyone else here. Just ring and say you want to book for two people with two single rooms. Ain't no big deal. I don't know why you're worried, and I agree with what several people have said, that you are over-thinking things.

I agree with BillieS that the people on the coach won't care about some random strangers having separate rooms. I would only be concerned if work colleagues/ extended family/ neighbours/ friends were coming, because they would gossip. Even so, sleeping separately is no big deal. Many people do it, but do not admit it. It's like a big taboo for some reason.
In some places (like America for instance,) it's not thought of as unusual for a couple to sleep in separate rooms, and many older people (over 45 I would say,) do it.
Just book your holiday soon, with separate rooms, and I hope you enjoy it. :jProud to have lost over 3 stone (45 pounds,) in the past year! :j Now a size 14!

Couldn't you book a "suite" which would normally have a few bedrooms and a shared bathroom? I don't know where you're travelling to but my parents have been doing this for years - they stopped sharing a bedroom the day I left home for university and wouldn't want to do anything different on holiday.0

I actually love having the bed to myself and feel that I get a much better sleep without my DH there.
When he's on-call, he'll sleep in the spare room so that he doesn't wake me if his pager goes off and he has to get up and changed.
He probably gets a better nights sleep too, as I'm a right fidgeter! Oh yeah, and he snores really loudly too, so I feel your pain OP!
When I hear of couples who say that they just can't sleep without their OH next to them in bed, I find that hard to get my head around....I like my own space too much!0 -
We have the same issue. My fella is a tad taller, and weighs marginally less than yours- and can wake people up from two rooms away. He also occasionally suffers from sleep apnea.
He is horrifically noisy, but given that he's worked away up until recently for 8 months a year, I hate to sleep without him. Laser lite earplugs have been our salvation- once they're in properly (and that's the key) they dampen down the noise so dramatically that I can fall asleep through it. Even if they fall out in the night, once I'm gone, I'm gone...0 -
" Hello, I want to book this holiday please, for Anne Browne, and John Browne, two single rooms please. Can you advise what the single supplement will be please?
Thanks a million."
That's it really.
Very few people are interested in anything other than themselves in my experience!
ENJOY!!0 -
Why don't you both book separately if you don't want to mention it? (Although I'm sure the person taking the booking won't bat an eyelid if you ask for 2 single rooms.)0

I will always remember the time my two sisters (Julie, the youngest passed away last year sadly), and my only brother went to London.
(every January the four of us went away for a few days without partners etc. magic time, great memories)
Anyway, Julie booked the hotel - one three bed room for the girls, and one single for the bloke. When we arrived there were only two doubles. Hotel full, booking mix up. AAAGH.
Well how we laughed. So Julie, the mad one and my brother decided to share. Can you imagine! We all ended up in their room that night there was so much fun going on. Two at the top and two at the bottom, it was like we were baby kids again.
The next night myself and other sis decided to sleep in our own room. The other two were honking snorers, God Almighty!
But I think a bit of over indulgence in the drinkies might have played a part too, wink!
Sorry if I've taken things off topic.0
