I'd like to take advantage of the current uswitch Virgin deal [Superfibre 50 + Talk Weekends + line rental for £224/12 months] but was told via a Virgin site internet chat session that it's not possible to add/purchase "Unlimited Anytime calls" as an add-in.

I seem to remember getting the option to customise the deal and add it in but I'm not 100% sure on that. Why don't you click through and see if you can? You can always back out before confirming. Try also using VOUCH50 and you might get a £50 discount too.

I also got a £50 credit applied to the account after reading about a voucher code...

...Now receiving 75mb after a speed upgrade from 50mb to 70mb yesterday.

Please share the voucher code or where you obtained it.

Also, how did you get the higher speed? Thanks!

I will post an update on my situation ASAP.

    I have done - read post 22.

A message appeared on My Virginmedia when I logged in saying my speed upgrade was ready in my area. A few clicks through to order and it was done 48 hours later.

We are with VM, OH has cancelled due to no good deals, hardly use TV.
Wondering if I could get this as a new customer at same address.....

Was there a box for the code at all. Not gone through the buy stage yet.

Very unlikely. New deals are usually for household rather than customer.

Use it as a means of haggling when they call you.

Yes there was a box to input code.

    Hi,

I'm just sharing my experience here of Virgin broadband. I've been a broadband customer for 6 years and mobile customer for 1 year. I'm currently on 50mb broadband and telephone plan, I don't use the telephone at all but pay £35.15 for both. I called up to say I want to leave as there are better offered elsewhere, the retentions department offered absolutely nothing and gave me a cancellation date.

This is disappointing, I'm happy with virgin but for the money there are better deals out there. Based on my experience it doesn't seem to matter how long you've been with Virgin, maybe if we had a TV package they'd have been more willing to offer something.

    :(

I'm with Virgin too and have broadband and phone, no TV. A year ago I was paying £23/month, now I'm paying £37. That's a 60% increase, when inflation is at about 1%. I think I heard that they are going to increase prices again in February.

Is there anything I can do? I don't have a regular phone line installed so if I move away I guess I'll have to have a line installed, plus have a new phone no. and email address which would be a big hassle. Maybe I'll try applying for this new deal but it doesn't sound very hopeful.

Anyone signing up for this deal think carefully about your options for moving away when they up the price.

I'm absolutely disgusted with their customer service and have been for the whole of my 12 month contract with them.

The contract is due to expire on 13th February 2016 and I'm currently exploring my options.

I received a letter from them (they're saying it's a contract letter), I phoned to query it but they're saying I phoned to accept it.

I'm currently in a dispute with them because there's no way I would have signed up for another 12 months after the service I received from them from day 1.

I'd advise anybody to steer clear of them.

    Hi,

Currently I'm on 150 mb for £50 pm

    Its a lot.

They just offered me £44 for 200.

However, I requested to close my account as I am opening a new bank account in my new name tomorrow.

So once my 30 days are up, I could surely get a new virgin account on new deal - if go thru Quidco... £100 cashback

    Slower £31 per month then £37 = £408 per year + £100 cb = £308 saving £292

    Faster = £39 per month then back to £50 so £534 - £100 = 434 saving £166

    or retained = £44 saving £6 pm £72 over 1 year

Is that the best deal? I'm planning to move this year that would sure help with removals!!!

Ditto ocado but heard they just need new email? As I will be setting up new gmail obv. If thats all Ocado need super, but if Virgin go by "household" my last name is remaining the same, so they poss could claim same house? Advice??? x
  • I too was a VM customer, I had NTL and then it was bought out by VM I continued using the service (broadband, TV, Landline), altogether I'd been with them around 12 years. When it came to me moving home I contacted VM to take those services with me, I was gobsmacked when I was told I'd be treated as a new customer with all the attached charges (loyalty?!) and so many others besides, I left as I was so angry and I told them why. A VM engineer came to my then home and took their box away (after I'd signed the termination form), I won't be going back!

Btw, does anyone know the best telecom's company for broadband and landline for private tenants? I've been ripped off before because of short term tenancies combined with waiting for ages to be connected
Customer Services - what a joke!
