call them sat morning, never had an issue getting throughDon't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.0

On the contrary, all the advice here is correct, quite why you felt the need to ask the question about your credit file being affected if you cancel the DD when you "know better" than people who have expert knowledge in the industry is beyond me.
Still, it's not my credit record, so since you don't want to listen to advice then do as you wish.0 -
Do not cancel your direct debit, they will probably just request the bank to re-open it anyway.
Cancelling direct debits is always a bad thing to do.
Not quite sure you couldn't find this, its the first google hit for " sky complaints"

That's not possible, only the account holder can authorise or cancel a DD, not the payee.
Any bank doing that would be required to refund immediately under the DD Guarantee.
But quite agree with you that cancelling is the worst thing the OP can do
OP, you can't cancel by any means other than phone because only that way can they unleash retentions on you.No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -
They will put the request in, the bank will see the account holder has cancelled it and refuse. The reason companies put the re-request in is in case the bank has made the mistake.
This then gives the company the information that the account holder has purposefully cancelled/stopped the DD as opposed to just being a mistake by the bank. This is important for ensuring that there is a set chain of "facts" when a contract could be deemed to be coming into dispute.0 -
and yes, I should have explained that bit clearly. It normally goes,
DD not honoured -> DD re-request sent -> Bank Refusal -> Notice to debtor of cancellation of DD and possible Default Notice.0 -
Don't understand your problem with cancelling. I cancelled today via live chat. Usual security details - name, account number, address and last 2 letters of bank account.0
