How do you make your tea?

The flavour of tea is affected by your drinking water, so some brands work well in one place but may not be so nice in others.
I'm in a hard water area and I find Miles' tea excellent. I always use loose tea, it brews quickly and tastes nicer than teabags. I think it's better for the environment too, less manufacturing, less transport (it's more compact), less rubbish to dispose of...
I warm the pot, add the appropriate amount of tea, pour on freshly boiled water and let it brew for about a minute. I put the milk in the cup and pour the tea from a few inches above the cup to aereate.
I agree with a poster above who mentioned fine china teacups, my mother always said to put the milk in the cup first as the cup was less likely to crack. I don't think it affects the taste of the tea to add milk after (unless you use teabags and put the milk in before adding the water - ewww...)0 -
I use loose tea in one of those ball-infuser thingys. No milk is going into the cup until the tea is properly brewed and is the right strength. Anything else is not proper tea to me.
Other people can make their tea any way they like as they are the fools who have to drink it.0 -
Any cup of tea not made in a teapot is not proper tea. Fact.
Oh and milk first.0 -

Simples
Snap!! Everyone turns their nose up when they ask what I'd like to drink. I tell them they don't have to drink it, they just have to make it
Some people see the glass half full, others see the glass half empty - the enlightened are simply grateful to have a glass

I was taught the "warm tea pot method" as described.
However at work i will randomly put the milk in first / last depending on when the kettle boiled and if the milk is already out.
My Mum also told me the reason people put the milk in first was to stop it cracking cheap cups that couldn't cope with the hot water.
Not sure if it's true but that's what i was told

Teabag in mug, water on top, swish it round, hoik it out and stick in a second mug, water on top, swish it round and remove. Milk into both. You can get 2 decent cups of tea out of an average teabag - very MSE.
I've been known to re-use a cold teabag for a second cup if I'm home on my own so not making a cup for OH at the same time.Make £2025 in 2025

Milk first, then squash the tea bag against the side of the cup until it gets to the right colour.0
