I'm afraid that the only tea I drink is from Long Island

It has to be milk first. I hate the taste of tea where the milk has been added second.

    Teabag in cup
A small splash of milk (hate milky tea)
Boiling hot water (hate cold tea)
Swirl the teabag for a few seconds before taking it out (hate strong tea)
    Drink ASAP

Not surprisingly, I make my own tea. :D

    Made in a mug, it's:
    tea bag/leaves in
    water in
    tea bag/leaves out
    milk in

    Made in a pot, it's
    brew tea
    milk in
    tea in

Both done the same way, whether the tea is bagged or loose leaf.

I make it as - tea bag in, add water, tea bag out, add milk.

Marley makes it as - tea bag in, add milk, add water, tea bag out.

I can honestly say that I cannot tell the difference ... other than the fact that when he makes it, I don't have to leave my chair ;)

Milk in first, otherwise round this area the water is so hard you get scum on the top.

  • No milk for me, I can't stand milky tea!
When I make tea for my husband, I pour water over a teabag, after a moment I take the teabag out, pour milk. He likes his tea weak and milky.

I always make our tea in a teapot. I warm the teapot first with hot water from kettle and pour away, then add 1 Yorkshire tea bag, followed by boiling water and leave for a few minutes. I put milk and/or sugar in either a cup/mug first and then pour on the tea.

This way is also money saving, because I only use 1 tea bag for two people;)

At last, someone who makes tea properly. I never, ever make it in the mug, I always use a pot. It gives better results every time. I have a small pot for when I make just one cup.

As you say, warm the pot, use Yorkshire tea, let it brew. Done this way it doesn't matter if you put the milk in first or not as the tea is brewed when you pour it. One Yorkshire tea bag is quite sufficient for two strong mugs of tea made in a pot. So it is very MSE as well as tasting better.

My OH makes a marvellous cup of tea and always puts the milk in first. He has a saying:

Add first the milk, tastes like silk
Add first the tea, tastes like (something that rhymes with tea)

    He warms the cups
    Adds the milk
Holds the teabag over the edge of the cup
Pours boiling water over the teabag from a height (being careful not to pour boiling water over fingers)
    Throws the teabag away
    Stirs contents of cup thoroughly

Lovely tea, it is. I never make the tea as I cannot match his wonderful tea-making skills (that's my excuse anyway)

    Depends on the situation:

Loose leaf tea - milk and sweetener in cup first, then add tea.

Tea bag - Bag and sweetener in cup first, then add milk once teabag has been removed
