I have but I suspect that trying to juggle loads of accounts will get complicated, as I get a bit sorted out I may well open up one of the high paying accounts and fill that and move on.
My first step since joining the boards was a rewards account, it fit so easily into my plan that it was made to measure, the next will probably be to swop my bills account to a santandare 123 account since I may as well get cash back on the bills I already pay.
I have £11,000 in my emergency fund which keep in premium bonds, I know its a pants return but to be honest my luck has given me £825 in the 5 years I have been building it up, I might open up some of the high paying accounts with that and set up direct debit shuffles and then start resaving into bonds...
I just need to do a bit more research and planning unless anyone has any starter advice.

Lol, I just made the grid and put a little roof and chimney stack on and drew a couple of flowers in the garden so the squares make up the " bricks" of my house.
Once its all coloured in its all ours :rotfl:
What's so funny about that :D

Cos I'm 40 years old and drawing little pics, to be fair though it will make a great visual incentive and tool to show what we are working towards, in the end I spent even more time on my house and drew enough bricks that each one represents £100 and as they are offset there is half bricks to colour for £50 overpayments should I need them.

Cracking :T:T:T. I agree, visual incentives are great . Just to warn you though, you can stare at your house or spreadsheets as much as you like but they don't move :(.

Just set up online banking with my mortgage provider so I csn log in and see my balance anytime I want, at the moment it looklook like im going to miss the 50k barrier by about £500 on December 31st, it makes no difference but I'm tempted to chuck in a top up payment ...
  • Well the first set of bricks have been coloured on and I'm itching to colour more but that will have to wait until next month now.

I have a house that I colour in too.:D. Each brick is £1000 so don't get to do much colouring!

    Overpayments - £48829.37 :j:j:j

I like your colouring idea. I fear however my mortgage is too big to do something like that yet but I have only had a mortgage for 3 months so far maybe when I get to over 50% ownership I'll set something like that up.
    Starting Mortgage Balance: £264,800 (8th Aug 2014)
    Current Mortgage Balance: £269,750 (18th April 2016)
  • Another 7 bricks coloured in and that's nearly the whole bottom row..
Although the payment has been taken its not showing off my mortgage balance at the moment soi don't know by how much I have missed the 50 k barrier but since I have chosen to take 2 weeks unpaid leave this month I don't think I will be topping it up but its loverly to be able to spend some quality time with my boy visiting Santa grottos and looking at pretty lights.
In related news I have just quit my job and will be moving to another one in the new year, slightly less money because I'm going form 50 hours a week down to 40 so the hourly rate goes up but overall I will be about £250 a month worse off but again its about family life for me.

    Hey savingdad,

I love the idea of colouring in a visual progress report. This sounds like a fab idea :T

Good luck with all the OP's and your new job in the New Year. Time with the family is priceless and making memories you will have forever. IMHO you have got the right balance between OP's and family time.
