I'm assuming the lights aren't custom made for the OP? If they're just stock items then I think the shop are being awkward just because they can.
WE have yes but the man on the phone said although he would send a form for us to fill in it is unlikely anything will come from that route as like the other poster said it was us that changed our mind. Thanks0 -

So using your figures, more people gave four or five stars than the total that gave three or less.
Do you realise that more people are inclined to leave a review if they have had a bad experience?
As you say yourself, you'll be writing a bad review, but would you have bothered writing a good review if the experience was good... I suspect probably not.
So in summary, for a company to have more good reviews than bad, they must be doing the right thing most of the time.

This OP is another who only thanks those that vaguely agree with their ideas of what is legal.
Who goes in and buys stuff for collection another day when it would have been much easier to come back and make your selection at leisure.0 -
There probably isn't anywhere to go with this even with legal action as the acceptance of the contract is quite clearly defined in law.
All you could do in court would be to argue that a reasonable person would believe you intended to view the goods before you intended the contract to be concluded. That would be the only way of trying to redefine when the contract was actually fired and I have to say that I don't find it very likely to succeed.
I note that they do offer more than they legally need to in store by offering a 28 day exchange on goods, so that's probably the best option, I'd just accept the credit note. Although I'm a little surprised that a retailer has done this, it is their right to do so.0 -
What if they have an automatic stock system, and as soon as they sell some they order more to replace. You may have resulted in them being stuck with 2 additional lights and nowhere to store them etc, which is why they won't accept the refund.
And given that they don't have to, just chalk it up to experience.0 -
When dealing through amazon presumably companies have to tow the line more to fit in with amazons terms and conditions. Within their own stores they are free to behave in any manner they see fit.
No this is not the case at all. When dealing through Amazon, they have to abide by the CCR as with all online retailers. Nothing to do with 'towing the line', unless you mean in a legal sense.
If there is nothing else in the store that you like, then go back, take the lights, and try and sell them on eBay or similar.0 -

CCRs only apply to UK companies. There is the european directive on consumer rights that brought about the changes here in the UK so EU based companies would have to follow almost identical rules but there may be some variation - some governments are more generous than others. And obviously companies based outside of the EU may have no rights that are similar at all.You keep using that word.
