It is just the weather to watch stuff like that.
Here, it's fresh this morning, but sunshine and showers without the manic wind. They're promising double figures and relative dryness from Tuesday, onwards, so barring a sudden temporary relapse, that's winter done.
Glad I bought a fishing licence last week and renewed my permissions locally, not that I'm likely to meet anyone from the Environment Agency on my patch, but I'm planning to go further afield.
We have some great scenery and peace to fish undisturbed up this valley, but I think it's somewhat poorly stocked with the goods! Tons of tiddlers for the herons etc, so no big pollution, but the larger fish seem few and far between. Maybe it's surviving mink, or the otters, but they're pretty much universal I'd have thought.0 -
lovely sunshine here today after horrendous winds and rain all week ??
well it looks like a home has been found for my darling MARSHA.... they are being home checked and then will come to meet her ....
I know .... but she is a sweetheart and as long as they are nice AND patient I will just have to "get over it " ......0 -
Hurrah! Much nicer here this week without the wind, though we've not had a lot of sun yet. Bashing on with the road hedge asap now, as there looks to be a 'bonfire wind' coming in a few days and I still have masses to clear away. All the main cutting is done.:D
The main compost batch I had from B&Q last year was definitely dodgy, and although I don't use it 'neat,'many seeds failed and a greater number of plants died in their pots. This year's seems fine, so germination rates are back where I'd expect them.
Growing some new tomatoes, particularly the ones I noted prize-winners growing in the shows last year or newly recommended by the RHS. Also experimenting with seed from a single 'Gardener's Delight' that wasn't like the horrible ones I had from bought seed last year, but more like I remember them.
Delighted that two Molopospermum peloponnesiacum have survived the winter and should romp away this year. Maybe you'll have to Google those! :rotfl:0 -
Just googled - striped hemlock! Looks a wonderful plant, glad it survived. Here weather is calmer; pigeons were very busy in the area where I'd put grass seed, despite raking it in to invisibility I thought, so will see if any is left to come up; regal lilies an inch or two high disappeared overnight, I suspect the delinquent squirrel; not all seeds in yet by a long way, but chives, gaura, amaranthus and cleome all coming up (indoors as yet) - the idea of the amaranthus and cleome is some quick annual fillers while perennials get bigger! And a hippeastrum which hasn't flowered for two years is just opening 4 blooms on a heroically tall stem. Life and daily long visits to rehab centre go on, at least it all takes my mind off Brexit.0

my darling bimble is at the vets on a drip at the moment
:(
he didn't eat his dinner yesterday [never known ! ] and then in the night ,had blood in his poopdepoop ...
so oft to the vets first thing. hes had blood tests and liver/kidneys fine so that's a godsend !
he thinks he has like a collitus and is dehydrated .. hoping to pick him up later today if he passes muster ..
we haven't had rain here for days now  been 10 - 12 degrees !
but colder today .. moving the horses this afternoon to a new field .. I just lead one and the rest just follow [and the sheep ] so easy .... but today ANYTHING could happen !
marsh goes to her prospective new home on sunday . in driving her to Eastbourne so I can see her in their environment for myselfwill miss her like mad but she needs more activity ... like being in an old peoples home here for her :rotfl:
isn't it lovely to see everything bursting in to life now ... flowers and leaves coming through ... love it
have a good weekend peeps xx0 -
I hope Bimble perks up after the drip and is allowed home, alfie xx'A watched potato will never chit'...0

Hope that Bimble is fine. Colitis is quite treatable with medication you may have to adjust his diet a little - I think.
Poor thing.
Gales again here & massive hail storms which just managed to dodge earlier when got dropped off at beach.
Saw a dead frog beside a pot hole that was filled with frog spawn - thought that was quite sad.0 -
Poor wee Bimble! You said he was slowing down. Like me, it's no more curry, beer and chips; or at least not at the same time! Hope he's back with you soon, alfie.
Very little of interest going on here, other than the glorious sights and sounds of the natural world changing up a couple of gears.....0 -
well bimble is home BUT he is still a bit wobbly bobbly ... vet thinks he had a minor strike as well as a colon problem ... so sad to see him feeling sorry for himself [quite rightly so ] ... his heart , kidneys and liver are fine tho so vet reckons he WULL recover in the next week or so ...
ive loved all my dogs but "my bimmer" has always been my comrade of mischeif and adventures... been all over the country with me ... naughty as heck when I first got him with "big dog" attitude ,,,
even people who didnt much care for "little" dogs love him ...
anyway im off to give a riding lesson now , fresh air and clear my thoughts ..
keep well peeps x0 -
Good to hear Bimble is recuperating.
Just cut the grass for the first time and used the cuttings as a mulch on the raspberry bed. Being lazy I haven't weeded it this year.
Been up to Skye house and can vouch for the horrible weather, in fact we came back a day early.
