potplant do hope that hubby is home very soon and recovery is swift.
Good news on the car Dave.
We had a run up to Torridon today - spectacular & very warm indeed.
Other than that not much to report. Been quite idle.0 -
well not very scintillating news im afraid ...its just dogsville here !
Got DW to help me yesterday after the forecast said 'rain' and we cleared all the hedging debris in a massive bonfire. Now, sure enough, the wind's gone around and looks like staying there, so it was a good move.
Plastic tooth inserted yesterday fell out at lunch, so I was back at the dentist by 3pm having a metal one put in. Embarrassingly, I nodded off for a moment...
Then it was on to the garage, who've given the new car the once over. It's fine, except for the spare wheel, which is for a completely different vehicle! :undecided
Pete brought us half a lamb last night, so the freezer's bursting at the seams again and I came in to find a roast dinner tonight. What a contrast; I was shivering after working in the poly, whereas yesterday was the hottest yet and I worked till dark with just a T-shirt for a top.
All the toms are sown, except the 'Marmalades'....Marmandes.:)0 -
Hazy & cold. They are doing muirburning so that's maybe the haze.
The temps are dropping, supposed to snow next week. The poor birds and insects & us of course - confused. Can't adapt to such fluctuations.0 -
we've had some numpty replicating that tradition down on the lizard for the fun of it, The furze seems to bring out the arsonist in some people.0

At this time it isn't just as disasterous as later on when all the ground nesting birds are sitting on eggs. We had three out of control muirburns last year that the fire brigade had to attend along with an army of volunteers to bring them under control. It's when it gets into the peat that it can burn for weeks.
A still hazy day much colder again.
Off to take ex neighbour some stuff she wants brought.0 -
SO.... someone please tell me how I seem to be walking around in a haze rescuing cushions, slippers and obscure items from the chops of a happy tail wagging pup and still laughing !!??
hoovering the remains of a toilet roll and a lottery ticket ! [luckily a checked one ] from an already dirt trailed carpet ..
and when she sweetly sits and proffers a paw as a peace offering I succumb to those oh so gorgeous golden eyes ......

It'll be the paws and eyes, Alfie.
Sorry to hear your news, PotPlant - he's definitely in the best place - take advantage of every bit of support, advice and help there is, for both your sakes - they can be wonderful. [strike]as long as you're not a stubborn git like FIL, who has refused everything and seems to think he'll get back to 'normal' by the power of magical thinking alone[/strike].
Finally got a new boiler installed Wednesday/Thursday, plus another CO monitor hardwired into the existing combined ones.
Had a rotten headache yesterday evening, but was greatly pleased with the phenomenon of hot water coming out whenever the tap was turned, rather than the roulette of warm water/cold water for washing my hair in each morning.
Got up this morning and Himself mentioned at about 3pm when the CO alarm was bleeping that it had done it several times on Friday...
So we now have no gas supply at all until the contractors get around to coming back and checking whether it's the boiler about to kill us as we sleep or a faulty brand new alarm. They don't work weekends at all, apparently - but I suppose at least that enables us to be able to tell which is the problem, as if it goes off again, it's obviously faulty. Seems that we have got a free twin electric cooker thing and a fan heater out of the arrangement, though. Not interested in the hob thing, as we live too close to takeaways for that, but the fan heater will be useful for pointing into the shower room (electric shower, so at least there is some hot water).
Himself has managed to get a job interview for Monday afternoon, though, which is brilliant. Even though we're going to have to get all the stuff out of the shower room (that we put in there whilst the installation was going on) so he can go there clean and not stinky without having a bath.
Spring is busy trying to spring here - Dog's Tooth Violets, Wild Marjoram and birds shouting all day over the sound of the traffic. And the honeysuckle is looking very keen to get going. I'm hoping it won't get too cold again if the birds are already starting nesting, though.
Ah well, it would be boring if everything went well first time, wouldn't it?
If only I could try and get bored...I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.Yup you are officially Rock n Roll0 -
Yes, rehab centre is definitely the right place, and husband is regaining some weight and starting to manage walking, and I think rather less confused, though we still have some fairly surreal moments. All good, and absolutely I shall take all support offered! Meanwhile the wind and rain have put me off the plan for this morning which was hoeing up newly sprouting weeds in what used to be the lawn and replacing them with grass seed. When I do get round to this I expect it will delight the wood pigeons which wander around hoovering up spilt seed under the bird feeder; a whole new buffet area!
Nesting season starting, and I am feeling guilty that as part of the garden clearing, nest-friendly overgrown stretches of ivy and briar were replaced with a wooden fence. I know there was a blackbird's nest, and a robin's, and this year they will have to find somewhere else. Promising myself, and the birds, lots of new growth and nesting sites by next Spring.
Rain has now reduced to drizzle, I might go for the grass seeding - rain due for the rest of the day, should water it in nicely.0 -
next time I say im doing "a good turn" please tell me NO !
now we have kennel cough ... marsha had slight cough now dolly daydream sounds like a heavy smoker ! so got 8.30am app at vets tomorrow for her !
ironic as I waited 10 days with no other dog contact and hey presto started to have the 3 i look after today and now THEY are on alert too ...0 -
Oh, Alfie - sorry to hear that = hope it is contained quickly.
Been a lovely day here so had a bit of tidy outside when we got back home.
Cat brought in a lizard that he'd had a lethal go at. It must have been sunning itself. Sometimes a cat is not a nice beast.0
