Given I'm up and have done the animals, I probably am overdoing it. But I do that for a week, then turn into a slug for the next week. Always been thus.
    C. Sorry your weather was carp; all we had was beautiful high winds and blue skies with the occasional fluffy cloud. Stunning.

Toast! Coffee!! Then I can think...

Glad the visitors have arrived dave & you sound always busy bee.
There's always plenty to occupy me, but my lack of speed is annoying and I can't believe how little I've achieved so far this year. The plants took up far too much time. :o

Now, with much more rain forecast, I might get to squeeze a bit of fishing in....10 days left! :)

We've booked the best local builder to do our main en-suite, so there's a good chance that'll be done, maybe. He was due to contact us 2 days ago......:undecided

had the farrier yesterday to do some trims and I managed to catch RUBY !! I patted myself on the back and the farrier just laughed ...:o

I have to don decorators / forensic white suit and hood and face mask and then try and cover grumpy horses !
friends granddaughter [8] wants to help me so ive got the smallest overall I can find but she will still be gathered up in binder twine to enable her to even move !:rotfl:
ive never had/seen any lice but years ago I had one pony covered and it nearly killed it from anemia so I take no chances now..

seems strange not doing my regular visits to pops :( mum has developed a flu'ey type cold which I think is where she has got run down and everything has culminated so am keeping an eye on her [much to her annoyance of course :D ]

Weather here has been mixed and windy, but the rain's mainly come at night, so we were able to get about with our guests yesterday and today. Did South Molton's market day and then walked in the forest for a couple of hours. River still low, but deluge promised for tomorrow. Our guests are off to Cornwall on the train then!

Hens may be pedigree, but they're daft. :( They go in too late and can't get up on the perches. Then, when they lay, they pull our rubber egg out of the nest box onto the floor, make a nest in the shavings and lay alongside it!

    :rotfl:

    Still no word from builder.....:undecided

I have just twigged maybe WHY our bathroom radiator towel rails have not been working !!
not sure if I said but had a plumber [female one ] out a while back... she drained the system, replaced the control thingies and then said they still didn't work !!?? I DID say at the beginning that the pipe work was easier to get to via my bathrooms floor [previously lifted an area for another job] but NO not until defeat did she look there and declared it was on a separate system !
away she went and left a £300 bill !
recently when the hot water went off another plumber came and said there was 2 pumps on the emmersion tank and h got one working but
one wasn't working so will be back to fix / replace this ...great .
laying in the bath tonight it occurred to me that the towel rads are worked by pump no2 ??
so what a waste of £300 !!! if im right

we have RAIN ... since about 11am and hasn't stopped albeit not heavy ..
didn't get to de louse the hoss's obviously

Rain's due to end any time now, so someone had better tell it! We have a waterfall and stream again, so that means the water's into the soil properly and the river will stay good for a while. :D

Our guests have left, moving on to relatives near the Outlaws, so DW's taking them there and then plans to spend a few days with her folks. Her Dad's memory problems are worse, allegedly, so she wants to know more. :(

Discovered why I had the message from Amazon....Daft kids bought us music unlimited for a year with Alexa, but failed to say, so we didn't know or use it. What a bu99er!

Our potential builder can't go awol, greenbee, as he's resident in the village. I expect it's just the Devon thing again; one Monday or Tuesday to visit 'dreckly' being as good as any other.....

Two heating pumps? That's the sort of problem you get in a big, posh house, alfie! :p

dave.... it was two houses knocked into one [years ago] so the system has to get round the equivelant of two !

just light spitting in the wind today but done the power of good for the fields / garden etc .

im having a slob day hence im wandering around with my red fluffy dressing gown on still !! fed the birds and even they stayed away till I left.... must have looked like a big post box coming at them :rotfl:
  • Well, the first attempt at releasing FIL back into the wild failed, due to the stairs at his sister's house being too steep and, despite his outright lies, they insisted upon seeing his flat/midden. He couldn't open the door downstairs, the lift was broken and when OH (who had turned up, despite FIL claiming he couldn't come along for 'legal reasons') let the staff in, they were very clear that it wasn't safe for FIL or the people providing the six weeks' of care visits they fund.

Extra bannisters are being fitted to the house stairs and they're aiming for Wednesday this week now.

Himself is coming back for a gig the day after he's discharged and then returning to support his auntie and his sister.

Which is completely understandable. Unlike his mother's logic, which is 'I'm going on holiday for six weeks in a fortnight. You have to leave by then because I won't be there'.

I fail to see the logic when she's paranoid about burglars of leaving the cottage completely empty. Although he's also not allowed to switch the heating on despite getting absolutely soaked over the last couple of days, so she's probably thinking he might use some electricity or gas,and would rather come back (after spending THOUSANDS on this holiday) to find it damp, mouldy, freezing cold and quite possibly broken into, as long as she doesn't have to spend about thirty quid on him switching the lights on and not freezing to death.

He's been offered the spare room at his sister's as a result.

Oh, yes, and his sister has just mentioned to him that she owns a flat just over the Tamar and her tenants are due to leave in the summer. Might we be interested, she says?

Silly question. It's a pretty village by the river, it has public transport (and a boat service in summer) and it avoids having to worry about credit checks and lettings agents. Plus, I expect to have a redundancy payment by then.

Maybe not a permanent place (the hill is going to be an absolute pig if I'm ill, we'll need a car and we'll both have to work - I refuse to be the one waiting for a bus in winter whilst he stays indoors), but it would be a start for getting work, etc. And Himself is, other than not being with me/the cats/the circumstances, loving being back, making friends, reconnecting with people and doesn't really want to come back here; he's only doing it because I'm here.

Scary thought. But if it happens, this could be my last year in the City.
I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.

Blowing an absolute storm here. Went to the beach after lunch & got sand blasted. It's really wild out. Picked some brambles but only enough for a crumble as I could hardly stand up in it.

Hospital tomorrow - there on Monday for Oh's plaster being changed. We couldn't find a car parking space & it took 3/4 hour to do so. The place was completely congested with people all trying to park/find a space. The hospital was then filled with loads of folk slate for their appointments. It's what is usual we are told. What a catastrophe - so we will face the same tomorrow. We did go early for our appointment on Monday & will tomorrow but it's all rather ridiculous.
Even the staff can hardly get a space to park. People leave their cars there that aren't due at the hospital. They will have to bring back charging.
The offer of the flat sounds good JoJo.
