The Outlaws were a minute over time in their hospital, 3 machines were out of action and they had an appointment with another medic on the other side of town, so they gave up and drove off. That cost them £80 by the time they'd dithered over whether to appeal or just pay £40. Scandalous!

Hate to say it, but it's been calm as a millpond here and sunny too, but last night was chilly and we had a light frost at the bottom of the garden.

Builder turned up, sorted the sticking doors and discussed the en-suite, so we're good to go in February.:D Couldn't catch him out with any hard questions, so I think he's as good as his reputation. He's even used to working with our usual plumber, which means plumber will have to turn up and crack-on.:p Brill! :)

Not quite sure which side of the Tamar you may be Jojo, but either side is way better than Londinium IMO.

New hens are still daft and going to bed so late they can't see to roost, so I've started a new routine of going in with a long stick, rounding them up and 'guiding' them into the hen house.
After only a few goes, they're getting it....well...almost!

That sounds good with the builder Dave.

We have got a good joiner - eventually. he is cracking on and has almost finished the L/R & the cupboards upstairs. He just cracks on. It's what we should have had from the start but you live & you learn.

The hen rounding up sounds the very dab Dave. One man an his dog with chickens.

More like 'one dog-tired man' who doesn't want an extra long-term job!

Looks like it might be the last really warm week here. They were still cutting silage or haylage yesterday across from us.

Might get some fishing done tomorrow....:)

    morning all

sun is shining here today too

im off to sussex again , dropping friend off there..

my poor cat has appeared yesterday with a horrible wound near her tail ! she has either got in a scrap with the 2 visiting cats OR she has got caught in something... she didn't like me stroking her neck to tail which is odd for her so I tried to look but she spat and swiped. so when I fed her I managed to see what was up. its clean and will repair, I got some wound powder on it but if still looking raw by tonight I will take to vets tomorrow [MORE £s !] never stops ...

had dentist do a repair to my bottom tooth yesterday, what a peacefull experience [this is my sons private dentist not my NH one] he is going to re cap my old capped front teeth and do the 2 either side too. I having super glued one back in, I think my skills at dentistry left him in fits of giggles
I will add that yesterday after dentist in city, I thought id pop into ikey to get a roller blind for kitchen , stooped down looking at labels I heard a faint tinkle noise . suddenly realised id lost one of my front capped teeth !!!! I was surrounded by a group of Japanese tourists/students so I just hollered "nobody move! " ... to my amazement they all obeyed as I felt round the floor and found the tooth !! I discretely popped it in my pocket and did a hasty retreat [blind less]...I don't think they knew what the heck I was doing or why they were stood like statues on command but I just smiled and put my thumbs up as I scooted off... looking like nanny McPhee ..
super glued back in again now .. never a dull moment !

my NH dentist has consistently tried to say "they all need to come out ! with false teeth !!
new dentist will cost but I will keep my teeth [sort of]
I need a lottery win or a rich benefactor ....hhmmmm

Some months it seems to be all spend, alfie.

Must say my NHS dentist is one of the best I've had, but normally, these youngsters, good, bad or indifferent, don't stay long and it's pot luck with the next one. This one has discussed long term options with me and certainly isn't thinking of 'falsies.' I'm just pleased she thinks I have a long term option!:rotfl:

DW is back, but on the theme of spending, rang me 5 miles from home yesterday, saying the engine management light was on.....so who knows what that may lead to. :( When one drives a £600 car, the options there are often rather limited too!

Didn't go fishing. Maybe tomorrow, maybe next year. I'm even thinking of re-joining a club I was last in almost 50 years ago. That would increase my opportunities all year round. :)

Morning all, it's been back to summer here for the last couple of days which has been lovely. I'm still in limbo with my buyers hoping to get their final inspection done this week. If all goes ok my house will be ready in approximately 6 weeks. Possibly the worst timing ever as it coincides with my manager retiring and me needing to take on some extra duties. I won't be able to take much time off as all three teams are very anxious about it all.
In other news all of my plants I potted up are doing well. The angels fishing rod has put on lots of growth. A red acre is looking rather wind scorched though. I had a couple of removals quotes and I need a van for all of the pots...oops.

Last set of moves, we had the pros in to move the house.

I hired a Luton, and did three trips with pots! That's three trips involving shelving units, wrapped with clingfilm, to keep pots in place, held firm with larger pots (also rammed full of smaller ones). It was around 2,500 plants in total! Some large large - olive, citrus, peach - were a two man lift in, but only me to get them out.... then many 4" pots with cuttings, just time consuming.

I'm glad to have so many plants, many free from cutting or division, but I wish I hadn't bothered with quite so many of the ordinary ones, which I could poach from friendly neighbours. Some are friends I have had for 30 years or more, through over a dozen moves!

Good luck with it all. Buy or borrow a trolley, if wheelbarrow not enough. Or, get the movers to do the lot! For my heap, they said they couldn't, but could subcontract to a specialist firm - which would cost more than the house move.

I think our 5 two hundred mile round trips in the van are now legendary, but some may also remember we lost 50% of the plants within months, due to the extreme cold in winter 2009/10. :(:(:(

It was maybe no bad thing; the climate here isn't the same, and the people here wouldn't buy some of the ridiculous stuff we used to sell in the city either!:rotfl:

Yeah, a bit of common sense was packed up early, with the glassware, during that move! :D

Of course, having shifted it all from the house we sold, into the rented one, it all had to be done again after four months, into this place. There's still a passageway with a couple of hundred plants still in pots, in a mess! :p

Oh, then there were the strawberry pots... moved first time in the trailer, but they were all in full-fruit, couldn't lose them!

But, we did move rather faster than we expected. Thought it'd take a year to sell, took three days. Things were a little... more chaotic than usual! :D

    Here - what a mess! P1040119.jpg

Well I've had the quote back and I think it's very reasonable. I'm doing my own packing, as I've always done this and don't mind. But they will take everything, protect all floors in the new house, take down and put up beds. Take all pots (yay) and for a decent trip to the new house too. So I'm happy. Just need to get the walk inspection done in this place (4 weeks and counting since their survey results), buyer constantly says they have been let down! Then get the new place sorted...builder thinks 5 weeks. We shall see.
I think I might take some plants to my folks or friends though anyway. Nowhere near the amount daffy or Dave moved! Maybe 100 in total? Not many large, lots of hostas lol
