Hope your back's eased, choille. Sounds as if you won't be going out much anyway with all the snow just now. Seems to have come as far south as Gloucestershire, but nothing here.....Correction: just looked at the live cam from Wimbleball Lake on the edge of Exmoor, and they have some there.

We were once told off for asking for more toilet roll at a Welsh holiday cottage, alfie. They'd only given us half a roll and it was miles to the nearest shop.:( Apart from that, I can't remember any complaint about our rentals. :)

Christmas Day was lovely here, but the holiday has ended somewhat stressfully. The younger folk are still in chill-out mode and giving no trouble, but certain older persons seem unable to rest. There was panic yesterday when nowhere was open and the newspapers were unavailable! End of the world, so half the assembled family took off for the day in search of retail experiences....Surely, when they were young, Boxing Day gave zero opportunities for those???

I suppose it's a happy coincidence that no one in the household, or any of the animals, is called Alexa. :)

She woke me at 06:30 :) and told me to put the rubbish out at 16:00.

That was quite useful, but she didn't know how high the river was, or what was happening at junction 27.....and she refused to feed the cats. :(

I think I'll have to work on her.......:rotfl:

    Kinda quiet here.....

New Year is cancelled. Our guests have gone, but left their bugs behind, so now DW's running a temperature and can hardly speak and I'm...err, taking things gently, in case I go down with it too. ;)

Doris and Dolly, our two Silver Dorkings, died within days of each other over the Christmas period.:( It was old age; both being around 7 years. Dolly was still laying an egg a day through autumn. That means we have only 5 hens left, but we'll not re-stock till we've re-built the whole hen area.

No real news. Horse Woman's place was supposed to be sold, but all's gone quiet since the survey. Can't say that's a surprise. ;) Her neighbour's gone on the market now, but all low-key and no sign etc, so nobody knows....:rotfl::rotfl:

Finally managed to get a picture of Lila, aka 'Woolly' this morning. She looks huge in the photo, but it's all fur, as she's as light as a feather:

I hope everyone is enjoying the festive period. I had a quiet Christmas with my parents and a close friend. Still in limbo but the negotiations have begun so watch this space. I've still been keeping my eye on houses but there is nothing hugely appealing at the moment. It's useful to see what's out there but I won't start looking seriously until this place has sold.

Your cats are both beautiful Dave. The dog looks very at home Daffy but once you mentioned his too long tail a nose I couldn't stop seeing it ha ha

Germs here too Dave - I'm supposed to be taking my mum home which is a 4 hour drive each way, but have told her that if I'm not better by tomorrow she'll have to get the train home. WHich is a pity as I was going to send lots of stuff home with her (clearing space in the garage as the builders are coming back and I need to put furniture in there) and was also going to pick up the log splitter so I can deal with the vast pile of willow on my patio.

How's Alexa? I'm tempted to get one but have a HUGE list of things I need to spend money on first (and probably some huge credit card bills winging their way towards me)...

I wouldn't stress too much over waiting a while for Alexa. She has a long way to go yet, I think. I only received her because I know someone who's able to obtain her at a massive discount.;)

We're having a digital make-over here in preparation for the new smart telly, which will talk to the new smart Hub I've just wangled out of BT.:DThat's only theory at this stage; there's a big chimney breast in the way!

Alexa will probably talk to both of them, so then perhaps it'll be hard to get a word in edgwise. Who knows? :o

I've put in wireless security cameras, which I'm very happy with (need to move a couple outside though when I feel more energetic), but can seem myself needing a hub at some point as there won't be enough direct connections to the router for everything! As work travel is set to increase, the ability to keep an eye on the house when away is important.

However, my priority for now needs to be choosing new front and back doors, and tiles for the kitchen & utility room, as those need to be installed in January.

My niece got a Furby for Christmas. No one gets a word in edgewise... not even when the Furby runs out of batteries.

No one else seemed to get the significance of Furby telling us that it dreams about electric sheep... I think my family need educating
