Could it be a matter for the police Alfie? I hate any kind of abuse of animals.

I like chilli penguin stoves. Mind you, I like the name :)

I have a cousin in the South Hams who sells and installs stoves if you need another option.

Yes, the Chilli Penguin 'Woody' is another on my short list....:)

But I can see that choosing the fire is the easy bit; it's sorting out the fireplace that's hard. :(

So thanks for the offer of an intro to your cousin, but the South Hams are over an hour from here and I think we'll need to go local to get the fireplace bit sorted - everyone seems to have in-house fitters, or at least tame ones, and I like the sound of a couple of guys in Crediton. Hopefully, they'll have knowledge of our local stone & slate place, which is very cheap, if the windowsills I had from them are typical. Mind you, I had to stumble around through weeds and buddleia to select the granite!:rotfl:

ive been offered a chip reader from a lady I know BUT a] its getting to use it and b] having to then take it back to lady for her to get info [not in the public domain] meanwhile hoping dog doesn't "disappear"...

fay, police wont get involved with no real evidence...
having said that if they got to know it was me that "grassed"... difficult one..

to be honest, if I can get proof, I will confront her and give her an option... hand over the dog for my silence...
then discreetly report the lot of em !

Good to see you back, checking-in with us, choille. :AGlad you're OK, if a bit grumpy, like I was last week with Mr Up-Himself Surveyor. Not heard a thing from him since. :(

We didn't visit Horse Woman on the day we went out looking at fires, and of course, on the day we skipped, her stair lift packed-up and she fell, cutting her head. Luckily. the kind lady who cooks her dinner every evening found her, and there was no serious injury, but it marks another low point. :(

With the stair lift out of action, she isn't bothering to get out of bed, or taking all her meds, so although all those who pop in try to keep it together, her routine is chaotic.

By now someone should have got HW into care for a while. She doesn't want it, but she's not coping alone now. Only one of her sons is in contact, and he just dithers, so we're putting as much pressure on as we can. He is coming to 'sort out' the stair lift tomorrow, but the leccy is going off for major maintenance at 9am. and it won't be back on until maybe 5pm, so that'll be interesting! We have told him. :wall:

How some people behave....words fail me.. No one minds helping, but I think we and others are being taken advantage of. I would never have left my parents in the random care of others like that, even for a week.

Best of luck with the sleuthing, alfie. Those people, if guilty, need a lesson.

    Sorry, bit of a rant!:o

Shame about HW - how good you all are, but she does need some full time care, but it's hard if she doesn't want it.

Digger man back today, so that's good, but it's all getting overcast, so he'll work on till it rains.

Hope that the dog situation is resolved - one way or the other, but you will need to be careful Alfie.

Bad nights sleep so I am being slow today - as always!

We were trying to get someone to come & top our fields but no joy.

It's so hard getting folks to do work here. They go all huffy if folks bring in outside contractors, but when the trades about are so unreliable it's no wonder.

Awww Alfie I know what you mean. It's quite tragic some animals circumstances. Just wish folks wouldn't buy & then get fed up when they outgrow puppiness or being a kitten.

A head teacher and his family live near us. Since we've been here, they've had two puppies and a horse, none for any length of time.

I expect he does assemblies where he witters-on about kindness to animals......;)

Went out for the day when the leccy stopped, bang-on 9am. Dropped-in on HW first with her pills from the pharmacy, but she was still sound asleep......

I think we've found flooring for the conservatory at a reasonable price, but the fireplace is still giving us headaches. Called at a company in Exeter (30 miles?) where they claimed never to have heard of our village, or to have done any work in the little town nearby. In short, they didn't want to know.:(

OK, well, that's them off the list. :p

Choille, you're not alone: Pete keeps saying he'll top our fields, but it hasn't happened.

Still waiting for sheep to be sheared - it's wet now so it won't happen today.

    I'm getting stressed about it.
