    I've been Money Tipped!
Bimble sulking about supper? He'll change his mind when he is hungry enough.

:). I miss having three dogs though after such a short time.

Bed felt really empty last night with just me, the little two and the cats. Bimble is a great size to hug in bed. :).

It wasn't just South Wales that got rain.

    http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-wales-north-west-wales-37274630

I do hope that CTC and her animals are OK and drying out.

We've been in cloud all day here at Bwlchtocyn. Got a bit less thick around mid day, but is getting thicker again now - farm just up the hill is barely visible, can just see the trees in the gardens of the bungalows down the field, but can't see the bungalows at all. The birds have been hitting the feeders hard! :rotfl:

Supposed to be going home tomorrow, not sure if I'm up to it. OH is insistent that we go. I guess we'll see... Can't eat, can't sleep well. But have to get back soon as car booked in for getting filler cap fault fixed on Thursday. Then it's get ready for the London trip to see Tim Peake. Which will be a 10 day trip (due to football match!) which is scary when still waiting for word from DWP on PIP. :(
  • Hi all,

We are fine ' just' thanks.

It had been raining all day, and around 5.30- 6.00pm it was like a monsoon.

We were VERY lucky as any more rain and the house would have been flooded.we were just digging channels/trenches along side the house just to try and take any amount of water away.

2out of the 3 pig runs were flooded, to the point where again anymore water then we would have had to ask the stables/ livery yard at the top and opp our lane if they had any empty stables to put the pigs n. We would have had to try and walk them there as there was no way we could have risked driving across our bridge as the water was just gushing over it.

Here is one of the videos I took.

    https://youtu.be/d1xWdNkUyYs

After a few hours it calmed down and started to stop.

A few hundred yards away from our old place ( about 6 miles away) there were houses flooded out under a few feet of water.

Erk! Things happen when I go missing..... Glad you escaped CTC.:)

OTOH it was probably a 'good' thing, in the sense that you'll have found out where the stream goes in an extreme event, in daylight, so you can plan how to add extra defences between the path and house. Unlike big river flooding, which can last a week, stream floods are typically a few hours at most, so it's often a case of just giving the water another channel to get away quickly or putting a bank in somewhere to deflect it.

Were you OK at the back of the house? I think that's where the proper stream is?

Not much news here now builder has gone to Oz. He over-ordered lightweight blocks, which made us think, although they're in short supply, so we could send them back without penalty..... :j

However we've decided to use them to finish insulating the walls in DW's den (second bit of garage) and turn that into a dressing room/linen room for the main bedroom. Like many bedrooms, that one's fine, till realistic storage space is planned, and we lost an airing cupboard when the big water storage tank went in.

We'll run it past building control, but there's a doorway already buried in the en-suite wall, ready to use, and two of the walls are and the floor are already compliant, so it isn't a big job. :D We'll probably keep the stable doors on the outside, because they look good, but there'll be a wall behind them.

jet lag is a nightmare Alfie. I find sleeping or staying up round the clock is the best option (tend to choose the sleeping option TBH...). If you wake up at 4am tomorrow I suggest you get up and get on with the day and push through until normal bed time.

CTC - hope you are recovered from the flood and have been able to make some plans. I need to move my sandbags as they are totally inaccessible (and probably growing things).

I've made a LOT of progress with tidying up. I've also spoken to the builder who is coming round on Thursday (I'm not going to organise any new stuff until he's finished the outstanding items, however annoying it will be not to have the floors done), found another local company who do reconditioned agas and can organise the flue and the oil connection (they're coming out next Thursday), and contacted an auction house about some stuff I have to sell - I need to send photos so have to spend time clearing up so I can photography the stuff! Keep your fingers crossed for me that I can make enough to get the floors done, as that would make a HUGE difference to my life...
