Stonking hot here....again, hope the Manflu clears soon IHS, although I've had the Lady cold for over 2 weeks, but it's on it's way now.
Off to finish the shed re-roof a few miles away - hope the breeze dies down a bit.0 -
Well, after cancelling the roofing for two days because of dire weather warnings, we've had virtually no rain in working hours and not a lot at other times.
Today we're into a similar scenario, with the sudden downpours supposed to go north of us, as they did yesterday, but you just wait; as soon as we strip the tiles off.....
Of all the jobs we've done here, this is the one I hate most!
At least DW has her avenue of astrantias back and the place is looking lovely with all the new growth. We have a thrush building a nest in one of the wood barns. They're not supposed to do that! :huh:0 -
How much more work have you got left to do Dave? In total I mean, on the house? Is the complete finishing point in sight?
How's your builds going choille and CTC?
Heave rain here all day yesterday and today...plants are romping away!0 -
"Just" refurb the roof, build a new conservatory from foundations up and replace drains, then add another bathroom, Fay.
Whatever's left after that is mainly ground work, like new drive, new garden area, lots more planting and landscaping, more fences....it never ends really!:rotfl:

Rained off!
Don't mind really, as it will give us a chance to prepare for the Market at the weekend.....and no watering!0 -
Lovely day again........
We have loads of bits & pieces of finishing to do down stairs, but no floors or owt upstairs as yet. We have to do bits & bobs outside & level around teh house & do some gravel & a proper stair out both back & front - temp was done out front for OH after his op.
We are working to a limited budget & are saving for upstairs flooring next, but we have someone coming this week to price doing a bit of digger work outside the house to level things & do the gravel stuff.0 -
and the rain cometh... albeit more of a drizzly mist !
the "2 horrendous days" [mon/tues] according to countryfile was soooo wrong !
I personally hardly ever look at a forecast, just look out the window does it for me, but everyone was harping on about the CF always being right and the "best" and my sister, an ardent viewer of CF rang me to tell me last sunday..
I have a heathrow run later today which returns during the "rush hour" ... o joy !
2 big dogs go home today after a boisterous 9 days !
so just me, my 3 mutts and the dentist tomorrow...
everyone sounds really busy ! I only seem to have bits of time in the garden and the major jobs put back each week..
this weekend mums coming over and after ive visited dad, I HAVE to sort out and pack everything im taking to sell at the spring beaulieu auto jumble next weekend. 3 days.. ive been given an excellent pitch [over a 1000] !! on a corner so 2 sides to show. and right on the main footfall route .. sisters coming to help me sat/sun as Friday is set up/traders day.. just hope the weather is good and I DONT watch CF !!..
hope everyone has decent weather0 -
just me, my 3 mutts and the dentist tomorrow...
She's very good though. Didn't feel a thing! I know she won't stay long, as she's not long out of college and only does the National Elf stuff, but I decided to go for it while she was still around, especially as it was only just over £50.
I think the weather is going to be OK this weekend darn sarth. It had better be; the next bit of roof is coming off shortly and we'll be tarpaulin-covered.
I think CF only gets its forecast from the same Met Office sources as we do, so the week ahead is based on computer modelling, which as has been amply demonstrated this week, can go paridae-up big-time!
Hope the auto jumblie does well for you.0 -
Alfie that sounds really marvellous the auto jumble. I wish there was stuff like that nearish here. I have far too much stuff & ebay has slowed to a grinding halt.
Really hot again & I feel tired out with it - just got loads of stuff on the line after doing mega washing for days. I' left clothes in the caravan & they stank of mould so I have sorted them out & thrown loads of stuff out that came from charity shops. The decent stuff I've washed & it will go to Oxfam tomorrow as we are through at the hospital.
Friend was rushed in last night so we will be able to visit him too. His wife was in a right state when she phoned to tell us. It's quite worrying.
Off to see a neighbour who is not too good - a bit depressing really but will try & be cheery.0 -
All the best at the dentists.
Dave - hope the re roof goes well. We await builder with quote for gravel & digger work............. you wait years here for stuff to happen.............0
