    Yes! :)

Time to get those seeds in....well, almost!

I'm going to make a start today, but remember, I'm darn saarth, so maybe leave it another couple of weeks oop norf. ;)

To be honest, I'd rather not bother again this year, as we still have so much building to do, but there are two monthly village markets to think about.

Anyway, this will be the first time I've used Dave's Den, which has the boiler in it as well as a couple of huge windows that get morning sun. Dave isn't stupid. :D

Mrs Dave's den faces north and has no heating! :rotfl:

Like the robin I saw collecting twigs, Mr Rod was in the front garden collecting his scaffolding yesterday. Another sign of spring....I booked him for the last bit of rendering/plastering in the autumn. Here's hoping....:o

Morning everyone, rather cold here but beautifully sunny and dry. I started my chillies a few weeks ago and they're going well in a south facing windowsill in a propegator. A few are ready for potting on. I'm going to buy compost today to start some dahlias in pots.
I've also bought another chocolate cosmos tuber, I've tried this before and had no joy. And I've bought two varieties of echinacea tuber/corms? Can I start these in pots do you all think? And I've optimistically bought different echinacia seeds. Normally I can do fine with most things I've tried but echinacea seems to defeat me, maybe I'm not too great at potting on and looking after them...but everything else survives. Oh well, I shall persist.
I made a list of my garden jobs recently, a full a4 page and that's only up until May and doesn't include any regular maintenance. Eek.

Chocolate cosmos I used to buy in 9cm pots wholesale and sell pretty soon after. I never succeeded in keeping any! :o

As for echinaceas, we used to buy lots of the new-fangled ones......and also never see them again! :o

Sorry, not what you want to hear, but at least it it probably isn't your fault, Fay. :A

I was going to sow cerinthe major 'Purpurascens' in the window-sill seed tray.

Also thinking how to make more space in the conservatory; I have a too-big glass-topped coffee-table in there I picked up from Ebay for a tenner.

As it doesn't owe me anything, I could put it outside and put the pans containing alpines on the lower shelf so they don't get wet.

In the conservatory, I could really do with two-tiered plant stands fitted around edge. Can't be that difficult to make!

I guess this will horrify us MSE peeps, but I was watching some YouTubers showing off their Aerogarden - http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B015SROO4C/ £90 seems a lot for some seeds, a hydroponic container and an LED light:eek:
    NB GW starts next Friday!:T

Thanks Dave, at least I'm not alone. There must be a way with echinacea though as you see it in abundance in so many gardens. I shall try this year and see how grey it makes me lol

Ordinary echinaceas are OK Fay, just not anything with orange or yellow tones in it, which will probably have E paradoxa genes in it.

E paradoxa proved to difficult for me, even from seed.

What about some kind of legbar, alfie, or Marans, both for the colour of the eggs?.

Or if you want a popular hen by looks, Vorwerks fit the bill. People always like ours. Failing that, Silver Dorkings have good looks too and ours have been trouble-free, besides being characters.
