Glad you had a good wedding Dave.

Long time since I was in Bristol, but I bet it's an expensive place to rent property or buy in.

It'll be romantic in the caravan for the newly weds - just don't let them stay for 7 years in it! The romance wears thin after that amount of time.

Nice you got a break Rummer - sounds lovely. We aim to do similar at the end of the week. OH will get his operation soon - although no date as yet, so it will be good for him to get away from work stuff beforehand. Although poor Mr Choille is going flat out to tidy stuff work wise before then - I'm just nagging!
Wind seems to be getting up. Black clouds. Some folk - a couple of folk walking along the ridge. Dangerous thing to do in the dark.

I'm making more mess than ever by cleaning the caravan - don't know how I've let things get so muddled, messy. I'm appalled at myself.

Bristol has been on the up for some time....

A quick delve into the history of one property we looked at, shows it was being rented-out as a whole house for £650/month in 2010.

Now, having been cut in half and turned into 2 flats, the rent for the larger one, with odd-shaped rooms and cheap fittings, is £775/month and the other, with similar featuresis £625.

The caravan might normally be romantic in August, but with this morning's torrential rain and the polytunnel 10 metres away, it's like being next door to Keith Moon's practice room....except that he never practiced! :rotfl:

    Looking qu

Quite nice today although drizzling. The midgies were really awful last night - they swarm it gets black with them.

OH away to a big site meeting so am enjoying the peace before joiner arrives who is helping with plumbing! Joiner is using plumber friends who he has worked for in the past to quiz for advice. They know the carry on we've had with scary ex plumber so it's coming along fine apart from finding stuff not done. Crucial stuff but not too massive - just a few waterfall moments with missing washers etc! Pump on upside down etc etc......

Terrible rents Dave - find that shocking. The joiners nephew is going to uni he was telling us about residences. He's in a mini flat he will be £100@ week there's 4 of them sharing so that's £1,600 @ month.

DD and partner are no longer simple students. They need their own space now, having acquired furniture etc.

Both will be working, but DD will be doing the lion's share, due to partner also being on a masters course. She's finding it a strain, as her own career is being hampered due to their necessary location near uni....totally in the wrong place for her next logical move.

It'll be a good testing time for both! ;)

The housing market........where would DD be better living? I often wonder if a camper van could be used by one half of a couple for through the week - parked up somewhere discreet, but they probably just want to be together all the time.

The other side of the city, or even half an hour's drive south of it. But changing areas means coming under the jurisdiction of a senior manager who's not interested in her career, just in maximising the earning potential in his area.

From his POV, losing someone who's capable of carrying a store and making serious ££ into the bargain, isn't what he wants to happen, so it won't. :(

If she stayed put, her area manager would be much more likely to help her up the ladder, as she's done for others in the past.

As I said, it'll be a testing time, but no bad thing maybe.;) As you know only too well, many of us must endure testing times......

Massive thunder storm - just got back from walking to our post outreach when the heavens opened.

Still no water on as waiting on a valve thing - I think!

    Enjoy your bike ride Rummer.

Dave - all comes to those who wait, but hope it works out fine soon.
