They dart about so quickly it's hard to notice if you have 7 or 8, but really counted today and it was 7 and located the husk on the gravel.
Had to give the tank a major water change and gravel clean with the syphon and now all the other fish are stressing and in hiding. Once in a while one will dart out then hide again - hopefully they'll settle down overnight.
sometimes, just sometimes the "books" are a bit over zealous with info re tropical tanks...
by keep trying to make things exact it can be detrimental to the stress levels of the fish ..
IMO I would leave them to settle down, there is ALWAYS casualties in a new tank but that doesn't mean all fish will die.
a tank need natural bacteria of sorts for it to function. too clean doesn't always equal fit fish..0 -

Yes! Not even a weeny advisory.:D:D I know I need to keep it for now, as it's been invaluable whilst we've been building, but we will have to say goodbye one day....
Alfie, you never know why people in cars do odd things. Today I was 'incognito' in the garage's courtesy car, behaving myself, when our builder whizzed up behind me in his van. I thought "Crikey, I didn't realise he was such as mad-$rse!" so I put my foot down.:rotfl:
To cut a long story short, no matter how fast I drove the Focus, this old Peugeot van was manically keeping up with me....I couldn't really lose him, so when I got to the Forestry Commision pull-in, I did just that. I didn't want our builder to do himself a mischief.....
....except that it wasn't him! As soon as I saw the number plate I realised what a twit I'd been.:o Still, whoever he was, he was definitely better some place else!0 -
IHS sorry to hear about your fish.
Well the patio discussions are ongoing. I found a range of furniture options today however the OH is not keen on any of them and as it is a shared space we will need to find a compromise. I just want a comfy and pretty place to sit and take in the garden. Been Googling different options but all the images (funnily enough) are from already beautiful homes and gardens.Taking responsibility one penny at a time!0 -
Rummer....sometimes just making one part of the garden leads to changes to other parts. By doing your patio you will by sitting there see the view and lead to that will guide you to where you can change /improve the rest....if that makes sense .... allthe posh gardens probably started from scratch, albeit some have gardeners... and have taken donkeys years to get there !!0

Morning all,
IHS, I can well believe it, the temps are dipping here.. And we have rain... So much for a heatwave this week..
I think this might be the year where we can pinpoint summer to one day here lol, last Wednesday!!!!
Runner, know exactly what you mean about spreading myself around thinly, but at the moment I am trying to see do potential income things along side our main business, as tbh, that has seen its day, and its a hard slog and struggle due to global markets and cowboys coming into the trade...plus its not enjoyable anymore, which it has been for the last few years...it is also physically hard now..Work to live= not live to work0 -

Well, I don't know what went on at the telephone exchange while we were phoneless, but it's certainly done us a power of good here as regards broadband, though we didn't lose that.
Our broadband download speed has leapt from a prehistorically slow 0.5mb to 6.75mb in the last day or two. Yes, still hardly burning pixels, but a vast improvement.:D:D
In the town nearby they are now on fibre optic Infinity, but I'm not sure if it'll come here....
In other news, it's been dull and windy here, but with plenty to do indoors, that's hardly mattered. We are slowly moving towards the big kitchen transformation and all we need now is a commitment from Mr Rod.....I will try to phone him now ....but don't hold your breath! :rotfl:0 -
Oops, another two fish are no more. The daft eejits jumped up into the water filter and got stuck on the foam pad
I'll see how the remaining 5 do, although that's supposedly too few for a shoaling fish.0
