I never seen them in people's gardens and only in pots is that they wernt hardy enough to go outside lol.
I pour plenty of grit into the hole before placing larger bulbs on top. Certainly my hyacinths have come through the winter. Even so, they do have a tendency to revert to looking more like bluebells.0 -
hi all.. well the winds sure did bloweth here yesterday ! took the power out at 1pm and eventually came back on about 3am... took me back to my kaput generator days :rotfl:
fed 4 dogs into the clipper man today and in between tried to catch "little git" mini for the farrier... he is so feisty !! I lasooed him, got a headcollar on him, tied him up and went for 2 more easy ones... looked round and all there was,was a headcollar and rope on the corrall fence  hes like bluddy Houdini !! farrier and his co-ert and I managed to catch him again [after his CE ended up flying through the air into the bucket of water] I didn't laugh honestly
.....
I had a cheeky message on the bay asking me to DONATE an item [fancy bed] to some college exhibition.... told em sorry I need the money...
the wind has finally dropped here now, but still a breeze ... cold too !
hope choille is ok ???0 -
Hope you've all survived the gales.
We had our hub blown up by lightening - I thought we were gonners & I love a good thunder storm, but it was a bit too close for comfort.
We've had a fair bit of snow but it's all gone except on the tops. It's a cold wind & very wet - the ground is as it's rained like a monsoon season.
Sold a small mat & cannot find it - the joys of living in chaos.0 -
Can anyone ID this multi-headed daff? I'd quite like to buy more for next year in due course.0

Once upon a time, I could have added a mature Monkey Puzzle to that map, Maggie, but its demise was one of the changes I noticed when I first returned to my old home town. Pity, there are no MPs on the map in North Devon, though I'm sure there must be quite a few, unrecorded.
Wish our wayward hub would blow up, choille, then they could send us a new one. I'd prefer a malfunction to lightning, which seems to be quite a feature of your Highland weather.
Our electric went down yesterday too, but it was just the electricians cutting through an existing cable, which had been installed diagonally across the wall! People say, "Why are you rewiring? The xxxxs had the electrics done less than 10 years ago!"
Well, it was somewhat randomly organised and inadequate, but anyway, half the walls the sockets used to be on have gone, or will be gone very soon. I think that's probably a good enough reason.
Cut a couple of 'lawns' today and it was hard-going. Rain was forecast to arrive by 3pm, but it was after 5pm before some fine, misty stuff fell. Glad I treated that prediction with appropriate skepticism.0 -

Just take a photo of any you see. Suspect there just isn't anyone in Devon doing them yet. Be great if you could find some and send them to Sarah. Just trying to spread the word!0 -

Or did you mean a Hub 1 like this?
I have one of those....somewhere! :rotfl:
The thing is, I'm sure BT wrote to us and said our Hub was knocking on a bit, and would we like another. But do you think I can find the email, letter or whatever?0 -
Hubs are handy to keep one spare - that's what we did, but took a fair bit of finding in all the clutter we seem to have.
Just going dark now - great with the longer days if only the weather would give us some respite.
I have the multi headed daffs & they are heavy scented too - lovely. Don't know the name.0 -
