Lir not up to giving advice about piggies.
Well, guys I have some news. Fir is looking for a new job. We're not biting our nails, but never the less, it might get a bit stressful here in the next weeks or months. Time constraint not too desperate. I thank god I'm such a miser and won't throw money at things to get them done quickly. I'll have to give my lovely cleaners notice this week though.. I resisted so long, and now I'm going to miss them so much, :rotfl:
All in all this probably means it will be a low progress year at the wreck, and the future might be about to change a bit..
We're obviously concerned, but not upset or flapping ( at the moment). We can pay the mortgage for a while, and It seems the idea to get the iron heart over a fire or a plain wood burner for the kitchen was a lucky one it goes in at the end of the month, so too late for this year really, . If things are still difficult as it gets colder we can cook in that and never turn the cooker and heating on, just live in the Cheese room.0 -

Would that be a bit nearer to home?
Sounds sensible and I can see the attraction. He'd be able to give you more back-up during the week.:D
When I went part-time to devote more time to my Dad, I thought we'd be on our beam-ends, but the reality was less scary. We weren't flush, but we muddled-through.0 -
That's ok LIR I'm not after any advice, Mr Winston has been fine for ages, it was back when I first got him he needed the TLC; it's weird I'm talking like it was recent but I hadn't realised quite how long ago that was, well over a year, time really does fly  I'm feeling guilty now, he hasn't had a proper all over massage for yonks
he does love a fuss!
LOL no scrap of food is ever left behind! so I know everyone is getting all they need, unless there's something in my wellies they need to nibble them for :rotfl: or in zips and buttons which the sheep and goats both love!
I'm assuming Fir is leaving current job before finding a new one? Hopefully there won't be too much of a gap in between, manageable for you and better in future. Esp as it would be a shame not being able to continue with improvements at the same rate... how's Fir's diy?!
Blimey, just seen the countryfile weather forecast I recorded earlier, looks like I need to be out at dawn if I want to miss the rain tomorrow. Mind you it's nothing compared to snow in Scotland again, Choille  what an up an up down week we've got to come!
I sometimes regret that we did not choose East anglia when we were house hunting, all these weather systems have lost their bite by the time they get over there0 -

Not according to Better Days! :rotfl:
I hadn't noticed the alteration in the weather forecast for the week to come.
Hmmm....looks as if the interior painting/work I have to do will be done after all. Not feeling guilty about doing outdoor things this weekend now....or worrying about mowing the grass!0 -
FK it sounded from your post that it was a regular thing.... glad it has all cleared up and you have cured it, what colour is he? is he the stone age boar you had?
they have given sh!te weather for this afternoon... it would be nice to have a few days without rain and a bit of spring sun, just to get on with some bits outside, really do need to start clearing and tidying the back garden and this house, its been neglected well and truly, and is just wild, brambles are there with evengence now, so hubby needs to strim them all back, and then get the weed killer out,Work to live= not live to work0 -
Ha, needn't have got up crack of sparrows, it's still not raining here, yet. But I've got an appointment at 9.30 so wanted to give myself time to deal with any more surprises, luckily there were no dramas today;)
Yes Winston is the Iron Age pig so black with very thick tough skin and hair like a bass broom! You can just make out the stripes on some of the new piglets in the pics, shame they fade as they grow up.
Well I'm off to meet with my local MP to speak about the planning fiasco here. The planning officer admitted to receiving my email 4 months ago yet did not respond, I left umpteen messages but I finally spoke to him last week after ringing the office several times in one day. However the enforcement officer is back on my case so I want a heavy weight in my corner to advise and maybe lend some support to my new application.
This MP plus my local councillor and AM all knocked my door last autumn looking for votes, he was going to buy some sausages if he had any money, but he didn't, like the queen. Should have given them some freebies eh:o
I don't suppose I've any recourse with the lazy PO but this whole mess could have been dealt with when I put my initial app in, he's just making more work for himself and everyone else. And I think this was the biggest source of my stress last year, cos it all came flooding back:( Anyway I've got the bull by the horns now, and won't be burying my head in the sand.
The forecast looks very uncertain, like you dave I'll have some indoor jobs and some outdoor jobs on the list. Looks like I'll be mostly indoors today :rotfl:0 -

No idea where yet, if its closer to home, home too will have to move in all likelihood.
He did get a later train this morning though and that was fun. fK we are cautiously hopeful fir might find something before leaving. There is not a rush, but my plan is to hope for the best and plan for the worst.
I've quietly put all my seed catalogues and plant wish lists on the burning pile, and while I was going to stockpile weed killer not sure about that now.0 -

OK you can manage without plants and seeds for a while, but stockpile, definitely, as grandfather rights end in November and training for P1 and P6 costs about £400 a throw. Not exactly local at the moment either!
I am blazing mad about this. Although I have friends who'll help me out, or think they will, I shall stockpile to be sure of supply.;)
The really annoying thing is that the taxpayer funded a 2 week course for me on hazardous chemicals + their use & storage, but my cert for that counts as nothing.0 -
Hi all... short note as just back online after 'the crash'...
my laptop has locked me out and this pad thing is hard work ! Spoke to ctc and caught up with basic news here but haven't read all
I was dreadfully poorly for a week then a tooth out last Thursday has ended in a huge infection in my right side of face so feel /look like quasimodo !! . Old lady I look in on is in hospital with blood clots etc but on the mend. So mad last two weeks ... I will read all when I can . Weather here is cold but dry, just the odd drizzle. Keep well all.. especially north of the border. Xx

Oh the irony...DH has just emailed me about a job prospect...it's the one with a longer future, less stress and different location, but it involves a pay cut!
So we too might have to slow down on the house improvements. He's pretty sure the job is his for the taking, I'm not sure when it might happen, we're going to Skype later once he's had a chance to suss it out.
Hopefully I can still do the kitchen in April! But TBH that is the only big expense, and I've already got the units (in the sale!) the rest of the house is only decorating which I can do myself.
All the more reason to get ones skates on and get everything earning to its full potential.
Meeting with the MP went ok, he's going to contact the planners, that should $h!t them up a bit.
LIR I can see you may be joining us car park plant hunters, it is fun and incredibly satisfying! Do you want to go 50-50 on some seeds? I've sent for most already but there will def be more than I need. And this year I will be stricter about saving seed so in theory I won't have to buy again, cos I have spent rather a lot!
