It's just incessant. No one can believe how bad it is. It does have high rainfall but this is incredible - it;s the animals that are suffering.

Had a real bad one this afternoon. Went to change a bulb in the fridge which is in the shed & ended up setting fire to some hay & burnt a pine cupboard I bought. Just saw smoke coming out from under the door as the plumber was going away (least he came) opened the door & had a hell of a job - the hay ignited & I had to sort of pull it out of the shed before it set the rest up - got does it stink. I thought I'd lost the shed & the caravan would go too. OH came to help & nearly got trapped in the shed. Jeeeee really could have lost so much more than things.

So that's a lesson, don't leave heat lamps on top of bales of hay!

Been spending rather more time in bed than usual. I think it's a combination of stuff catching up on me. Long dental work thing, worry over sale of old home, clearing MiL flat (we only helped on final stuff really), still clearing old home too, plus went to visit MiL in the new Nursing Home she's had to move too (old one closing for knocking down and rebuilding) which is a long drive each way - about 50 minutes - as it's in the middle of nowhere... Plus got stuck in the lift there as it's too small for my wheelchair!

But did just chuck on some clothes earlier and did a bit of prune on quince in front garden. Have done maybe a third of what still needs doing. And started a prune on the front garden roses. They need some proper attention, but I just hacked off some of the hips from last year plus a long branch that was heading in the wrong direction at a rate of knots! It was getting tangled up in the quince. Did some marginal weeding in one of the ginormous pots we have saffron crocus growing in, but mostly couldn't get grass roots out, but even ripping tops off it will prob slow down growth till have more time to do a better job.

OH has now gone out for a meal and AGM of the Seabird Association. I'm tucked up back in bed with a tray of cheese and biscuits should I get hungry, plus some crisps and choc chip cookies and some G & T . I should survive! :rotfl:

OH did his leg in last week lifting a couple of bicycles into my car from old home to take to place that does them up to sell on. He's been hobbling all week, so despite the good weather the lawn is still waiting for its first mow of the year. Fingers crossed his leg improves during the next week so that he's able to take advantage of the next decent weather, whenever that turns out to be. Allotment still neglected, just hope we can get there soon!

That must have given you such a fright and bloomin' ironic considering how much rain you are getting.

I feel your pain re delays - our kitchen and utility should have only taken a month at most last year but it took months and months, started June, delay after delay, finally finished in December. It's a shame because I got so fed up of it, it took the shine off when it was finally done.

Hang in there, it's spring now, hopefully you'll start to dry out soon.

    Oh dear lucielle

Car problems are such a pain and have the tendency to become rather expensive. Do you know what the problem is? Intermittent faults are the worst to pin down. We are rural and only have one car which Mr BD needs for work, so if it goes wrong we're stuffed.

You've got the right idea maggie :D:D:D
Can't believe that lift was too small for your wheelchair, it must have been minute. I once got stuck in a lift at Smiths, but that was because some numpty had piled boxes around the upstairs exit and I couldn't get out without knocking them all down.:mad::mad:

I've been resting up in bed too, with Jack Bauer having dug out my 24 boxset, but tempted to go back to The Walking Dead for some variety in my escapism :o:o:o , but TWD can be a bit stressful...... Every so often I dig out The West Wing which is still excellent viewing. Also been listening to some David Baldacci audio books which are a good way to pass the time.

Even outside with the burning hay it was pouring down & I was having to run to get pails of water to put the burning hay out & stand on it - it kept flaring up in the rain. I thought we'd lost the shed & the caravan is right next to it & most of our stuff is in the shed. It took over half an hour to get it out.

It was my fault as I inadvertently moved the heat lamp to the top of a bale & switched it on - thinking I was switching the fridge back on! - God how near a thing.

I can't image what would have happened if I hadn't noticed it when the plumber was going away - or if he'd been longer & I wouldn't have gone outside to move a wheelbarrow so he could reverse his van.

Thank goodness you noticed in time, choille, though you must be worn out now. That sort of scare takes it out of you! Have a dram. ;) No, have two! :D

I've been looking at your weather and you'll get some sun tomorrow.:j OK, it might rain a bit too, but by Tuesday you'll be basking in what we had today .....and no frost for the next week either. :)

Yes, first day without a jumper today. Not even much wind here. Cut down an ailing apple tree, then planted a walnut and two elms which have been sitting in pots for far too long.

After that, we moved around 12 barrow loads of soil into the chicken orchard, just to fill up all the holes they've dug along the perimeter. You'd think they'd been re-enacting the Great Escape.....except most of them could fly out anytime! :rotfl:

Blimey Choille, that sounds really scary.

Had to get DS1 a new car as the one he'd bought was duff and wouldn't get through its MOT due in March. DD1s car has had clutch problems, so decided to get that done and at the same time get the timing belts done. Got a phone call to say they had done the clutch as requested (by us as we'd been told by somebody else that was the problem) and when they had got it off the ramp they realised it was the breakbox and the clutch wasn't the problem. The mechanic did say he would've thought it was the clutch.

Anyway we have put so much into it we have to keep going now. My car is in for a service (should be ok).

There was a promotion going at work but decided not to go for it. A lot of sleepless nights whilst I made my mind up.

Have booked a holiday, coming sort of up your way Choille. Have a week booked in Skye. Need to stop moaning and just get on with it.

Bit of good news, have possibly found a great chap to help in the workshop. Should ease the pressure on OH.

Oh poor you Choille. I do hope you are now sitting with a glass of something strong in your hand. I sometimes thinks our minds are cruel when they keep reminding us of what may of happened.

Thank goodness you and your OH are safe and hopefully tomorrow will be a better day.
