I love the way they used to call them romantic names, like 'Zambesi,' though I'd go for 'Limpopo' if I had a choice.
We do have a repro high level cistern here called the 'Savoy,' which was the name of the local cinema when I was a lad. Well, it's definitely not the best seat in the house! Apparently, we're swapping it with DD1, who has the Victorian house to put it in. She will, no doubt, like having her shoes washed when she forgets to put the lid down before flushing. :rotfl:
I actually bought one of these:

Paid less than that, though.0 -
I bought a similar one Dave from VP.
Thing is with names......OH is of the opinion that he wants nothing short of the Niagra Falls when he flushes!0 -

Ooh, I like that BDCan I have it if Dave doesn't want it please? Have added that to my watch list - thanks BD xxx
We just bought a repro high level one for the upstairs facilities - seems funny only having two loos in this house and will need to add another on the top floor as going down our treacherous stairs to the first floor several times a night (I know, too much info, lol!) is an accident waiting to happen
The one we purchased is a gothic style with fantastic arched details on pan and cistern and identical to one we put in at the last house. We never thought we'd find another as they're no longer in production, but good old fleabay came up trumps - pardon the pun - again
Downstairs we currently have a lovely lemon yellow loo and matching corner basin.....any takers, lol?!?!Mortgage-free for fourteen years!
Over £40,000 mis-sold PPI reclaimed0 -
Whatever happened to siphonic loos? For those too young to remember, they had a fair volume of water in the pan which used to siphon out almost completely when flushed. We had one, and there was also one in my uncle's house.
OK, you sometimes found your bum getting a bit splashed, but they were very good at 'clearing.'
Yep, I know, too much information!
Edit: You never know phoebe; it might be just what someone's looking for in their 70s retro conversion. But it's "primrose," not yellow! :rotfl:0 -

Glad you like it Phoebe, it is rather fine isn't it?
Now I wouldn't object to the Bathstore and the like prices if they turned out porcelain wonders like the Zambezi (or the Limpopo). If we had the money I'd love to do a 'retro' cloakroom - including a 'feet washer' Dave :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
The cloakroom here did have an avocado loo and basin. The loo wasn't savable but I couldn't bring myself to throw away the little basin, styling is lovely, but whether or not we will ever actually use it in a future property is debatable.
Stacking up to be a busy week this week. Decorator will be here painting upstairs. On Tuesday and Wednesday the chippie is coming to put a door on the alcove where the boiler is and to put doors on the 'glory hole' beneath the stairs so the first thing visitors see to the house isn't the hoover, steam mop, shoes, dog food, my WTSHTF box and other assorted junk.
Then on Wednesday the heating engineers are coming to S plan the heating system so we can control the HW separately and to fit my super dooper wireless thermostat/programmer which can be controlled via smartphone/internet.
Are you keeping warm Dave ? Very chilly here overnight, heavy frost and a sprinkling of snow.It is a good idea to be alone in a garden at dawn or dark so that all its shy presences may haunt you and possess you in a reverie of suspended thought.

Morning all,
flipping freezing here,
after speaking to the woodburner guy ( known him for years, and he has bought an old house and doing it up, like us) he has put under floor heating in, and its not as expensive as I thought.. so think its going to be well worth the extra strain, more work now, for future gain...
so I just need to start putting higher priced items on the bay..and more items lol...
had a few sales.. sold as few things that I thought would only sell as chrimbo pressies, like a bubble bath gift set etc...
right better grt packing this stuff up to post out lol..Work to live= not live to work0 -

No!....And after working till 8pm in the loft last night, the insulation people refused to fit any today because we're having a re-wire! Said their guarantee would be useless, as the electricians would maul it around, so we'd get cool and warm spots.
I'd taken advice from an electrician too.
Anyway, they can't come back till 2nd March!
And the window fitters are late....
Anms the phone's on the blink again....
Apart from those things it's fine! :rotfl:0
