No need for watering plants here, not that we have any. Actually, it's been a lovely day today and we're to get warmer by the weekend 😎
Hope your MiL is okay, I don't know what covid aftermath symptoms could be, but if she's tested positive I don't understand why she would want a second opinion??
Fingers crossed for the new neighbours.
Ted, I bet you can't wait for Thursday 🐱'A watched potato will never chit'...4 -
There was no test. The docs said "Oh, we've seen this before in cases when people have had Covid some time ago."But MiL wasn't convinced, as she's been in lockdown at home since it began, as has FiL. I won't say what the symptom is, as there's enough confusing info out there already. MiL thinks she knows what it might be.

Hello and good evening, I hope all is well with everyone. It's too hot for me too so I find other things to do in the day then really I'm too tired to catch up in the evening. My daughter came to look for me tonight with torch in hand as from the house it looked darker than it was for me. I've still not finished planting all the veg. I've grown far too many to fit in this garden and I can't go to my allotment looks like it'll have to find other homes. Friends are looking after it for me - knowing they will be rewarded. I'd thought of giving it up but lockdown has made me realise the time isn't just yet.
There are new cows in the field over the hedge. They are making a good job of trimming it so they can see over. I do miss them when they go. There are always seven. Perhaps that's as many as will fit in the farmers trailer or fit the size of the field - 5 acres
Badgers and a fox caught on the camera over the last 4 nights. That's the first time for badgers in the flower garden rather than the wilder part/s. I was suspicious but hoped the holes were being made by the green woodpeckers but as they got bigger I was only trying to fool myselfLove living in a village in the country side5 -
Hope the new neighbours are lovely Dave.
The cold wind seems to have dropped a little. I'd been planting up seedlings and the seed trays were all over the place yesterday. Moved the boys over to the in-by field but Dougal decided to make a break for it - spent a while trying to coax him into the field trailing all over the rough bouldery bit just about breaking ankles and making an eejit of myself but he had the last laugh so just left the gate open and came back for a cup and tea and he sauntered in.
We are looking forward to the hairy one being delivered tomorrow. The woman from the rescue centre has the 'handover' all planned out - we did offer to go and collect but were told it's not legal.
Oh, well. Hope to get on with some grass cutting if the weather stays dry.

Ah yes, new neighbours; always a lottery and source of interest......The outgoing couple were fine, but being the middle one of a terrace there's extra potential, especially as the couple on one side are total nutters with nothing to do, except hide indoors from the virus.
Apparently, they wrote an 8 page letter to the earlier new neighbour detailing what the 'rules' are, but his wife got it first, annotated it and stuffed it back through their letter box! 10/10 for the response there.
However, it seems old new neighbour has gone legal with the farmer over their boundary now, so we await developments, as their situation is practically identical to ours....but they're paying.5 -
Oh dear Dave, boundary disputes are a legal nightmare.
I know one side would love me to own the boundary but since the fence is clearly on their side of a line from the brick wall of their outhouse and the far wall...
Been a bit AWOL, partly 'puter issues, partly watering and gardening and bees, and partly too many family history contacts arriving in a very short time. Plus queuing. We've got very good local shops but most are one in one out, so everything takes time. It pays just because the products have a much longer shelf life than most in the supermarkets and everyone is good about distancing.
Need to water and get in the bakery order. Ted, keep chasing sheep; they're less of a problem than other users.
If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing6 -
Ah, I can see why MiL isn't convinced, Dave. It wasn't anything to do with eyesight, was it??... 😉

It wasn't anything to do with eyesight, was it??..No, she isn't envisaging any long haul lorry trips, so no need to test that! She was right though; she's got shingles, not Covid aftershock. Not great at any time and especially not in your 80s.Been getting ready for our new arrivals, though it will be a good few weeks before they need this home, which I've now treated and spruced up a bit outside:Candled the eggs today and we have 100% fertile.....just have to hope not also 100% boys!6

Poor MiL, hope she's not too ill with it.
That's a posh home, I hope they appreciate it. How many are you getting??'A watched potato will never chit'...3 -
Shingles isn't good, I wish her a speedy recovery. As for neighbours, an interesting time. I can never understand why people buy a house with a large well manicured garden and then take no interest in it and don't employ a gardener. Do they think it will look after itself?
I'm pleased I'm not the only one to vacuum the hen house. And the carpet between the shed and the greenhouse but don't tell anyone
Today I was finally able to plant the last of the outside tomatoes, beans, courgettes, marrows and pumpkins. (without mum's help) Up and out before 6am and again after supper. That's it apart from any succession planting but I rarely get round to that.
I put all the rest on the road side and sold everything in a couple of hours which paid towards my seeds. I met a newish neighbour who's asked me to go round and help get him going. I hope I can, I know the garden well and it's very shaded by his neighbours trees.
